The Giggle feels exactly like an RTD1 Era finale: too much stuff added to make it seem big, and the solution is whatever nonsense that Davies just makes up on the spot. The Star Beast literally had the cracking street just repair itself for reasons. But one of the big concerns I had was the repercussions of humanity acting the way they did, especially given that Donna's family would be affected, and what fighting may have happened. But it is swept under the rug like the rest of that plot.

Not going to lie, I'm surprised at now cynical your review is. Personally a lot of the flaws that you pointed out I had noticed. But in spite of them I still enjoy the episode. I definitely didn't fully love how we were introduced to Ncuti's doctor through bigeneration, but I feel he's still got his moment with the line, "I think im me. Im really really me!"

Sorry you didn’t like The Giggle. I personally enjoyed it and didn’t see most of the flaws you mentioned the first few times I watched. All reviews are subjective and everyone is entitled to their different opinions but I think this is the first time I’ve seen you legit angry at a RTD story. Other scripts you didn’t like were mostly casual mehs or just not that engaging but the inflections in your voice reminded me of when you were enraged at certain Steven Moffat scripts like Asylum of the Daleks and Dark Water/Death in Heaven though maybe not as much. I’m as big a fan as you and I like The Giggle and I’m gonna try not to let you more in depth criticisms change my views on it. I will agree The Giggle would’ve have worked better as a two parter and look forward to the next review which from what I’ve seen looks to be more positive. Bring on Ncuti Gatwa.
