Roadmap February 2026

Hello everyone! A quick roadmap post before I head off on a short holiday!

As you probably know, we have released quite a cool Vanilla Landmarks Expanded mod. It took a lot of work to get it done, but I'm hopeful this mod can become a new staple for all playthroughs. After all, having a bigger variety of locations on the world map is more or less always useful.

Give it a shot and if you like it, make sure to leave us a comment on the mod telling us that you do! We need to know when we're doing a right thing.

Earlier in January we have also released the update to Vanilla Furniture Expanded - Security. It was a massive undertaking and so far I can see it has received an amazing response.

We're still developing the Vanilla Gravship Expanded - Chapter 2 mod, but I've decided to move some things over to an update to Vanilla Gravship Expanded - Chapter 1 and we will release it hopefully shortly after I'm back from my holidays.

We're also almost done with development of Vanilla Weapons Expanded - and it's a big one. That mod comes with a huge selection of new weapon traits as well, making unique weapons even more unique.

We're starting development of Vanilla Weapons Expanded - Quickdraw, which should be pretty fast, as well as Vanilla Furniture Expanded - Factories, more on which I'll hopefully be able to share after I'm back.

I have also started a redesign of the coilguns mod - it's only three weapons, but I want to fully change the way they work, so it's something to look forward to.

Idk if this is a dumb question but, will we ever get vanilla races expanded dirtmoles? Every other race has a mod apart from them.

The Anomaly Expanded mods the community voted on a while back seemed like good ideas! Three got picked I remember one was Hellgate and the other two I’m not sure (I think something like Gremlins was one). Anomaly is by far the least explored of all the DLCs, yet seems like it offers a great scaffold for expansions. Wonder if we’ll see those three community-voted mods or others see a comeback down the road.

Not sure you xan answer this yet but: Will shuttles be working standalone or on the framework from odyssey dlc or will they require the vehicle framework to function?

Landmarks 2 is only a plan for now and nothing concrete. It’s something we will eventually do, but when, is hard to say. Gravships chapter 2 won’t be focused entirely on Gravship vs Gravship combat. In fact, it will be very rare you’ll face an enemy gravship, and usually it will be a game ending boss fight. The chapter 2 will be focused on combat for gravships though - orbital platforms you can attack and that will attack you back, infested asteroids with dangerous new Insectoids, sieging raider controlled satellites and more. It will however be a while before it’s out. Chapter 3 will be focused solely on the moon, the mechanoid swarm and orbital station construction.

Really good line up so far. I am curious regarding Factories mod, will there be new factory buildings? Its something I been wondering lately.....

I imagine chapter 2 's release is somewhere in the summer of 2026 at best right (or even later )? I mean it's a big project or is there going to be a chapter 3 that's going to fill out gravships and combat even more (I imagine mechanoids 2 would have a lot of potential synergy)? I can't really imagine chapter 2 being released so fast without it being undercooked or underwhelming but then again I don't know exactly what you guys are planning for the actual combat. I also don't see a Landmarks 2 on the roster, is it being postponed entirely or did you just forget to mention it properly?

That was the intention! And it’s really nice for me as a mod maker to do something a bit smaller and more focused from time to time. They’re not huge mods with new mechanics, but more of a very precise thing with clear development beginning and an end.

I'm honestly waiting to come back to playing Rimworld until the Grav ship battles are a thing. But I can already tell you landmarks expanded is for sure going to be a staple mod of mine when I do get back to playing.

I know there’s a lot of hype for megacorp, understandably. But I gotta say I’m stoked for another VQE mod too, I’ve really liked the goals the others have given me over my runs. They slot in to most playthroughs nicely without needing to build a whole run around them.

I think the most exciting stuff for me is outposts 2 - the recent wave of mods that have developed the world faction depth is proof that rimworld players are dying for more faction interactions. That's why mechanoids 2 is also so popular right, the world invasion mechanic was awesome. I also think that the most criminally under developed aspect of the game is childhood. Still waiting on that one, feel like I'll be waiting for a lot more time still. Other than that, beast hunter mod and mega corps look promising too. I think I miss mods that are actually story telling depth. And these sounds uoer promising in that regard
