[Teaser] Vanilla Factions Expanded - Medieval 2 content map

Hey folks! A quick teaser for you.

This is a content map that maps out all content that's going into VFE-Medieval 2. You can also see which content is not being put in the mod. After all, the merge requires some sacrifices, as our primary goal is to streamline and simplify the content offering.

Animals will make it back for sure!

Oskar Potocki

The animals I hope wind up one of the Animal mods. While I liked all the Crypto tech I am not sad to see some of it go. However I would put forth the Heavy Axe being something to add back in. Whom does not like a big axe beserker running towards your foes?

Apollo Densin

I second that. Add the wolfhound and wooly cows to Vanilla Animals Expanded.

Alissa DeWitt

everything from the Northern style SHOULD be included on medieval 2, unless you are planning on adding it as a standalone mod. Id remove all the nonsensical mythical creatures from the medieval 2 mod and add them as separate add-on, for people looking for more realistic playtroughs Medieval 2 should include both the rough kingdom and the Slaver Clan faction, it adds to the experience having savage vikings raiding the borders of your kingdom, as the danes did to multiple nations in the middle ages. They could also have mechanics for extortion ( Danegeld ), in which theyd ask for silver in order for NOT to raid you

Gustavo Righetti

Gonna be sad to see digging terrain, the meat smoker, rune stones, and most of the crypto weapons go. There's a lot of stuff that I'm glad to see get the boot, though, and others that are getting made into a style. Blah blah bloat etc etc. I presume that the runed column is the same as the regular column, just in the Norse style, and so on? I presume the Werewolf Hunt event will involve hunting down the Lycanthrope xenotype. Will the Sanguophage Hunt only involve Sanguophages, or could it possibly involve other xenotypes with the Bloodfeeder gene?

Slippyfopp

Good to know that the hearth is still there as it had become a staple in all my great halls. Looks like you're also streamlining the beasts a bit.

Stim

Unlikely.

Oskar Potocki

Other way around: rough and savage kingdoms are getting axed. Which brings up the question, how is the medieval scenario going to change? In the original, your pawns are attacked by the rough kingdom they split off from, but now rough kingdoms don't exist.

I was so excited about this mod, then I found out it means the removal of the Wooly Cow and now I'm sad. I'd be incredibly disappointed if the Wooly Cow wasn't at least available somewhere.

ChickenMike

will there be stuff that can be used with a rimworld of magic?

dj

Most of it is still in the mod. The rest gets removed and won’t be available anymore.

Oskar Potocki

We’re lowering the total amount of factions from 6 to 3, which is exactly why this mod won’t work on any save that previously had the old medieval or old Vikings mod.

Oskar Potocki

Will Crypto tech be available somewhere later?

lloki

Wait, we're losing the Civil Kingdom factions? How is that going to work?

James009

2-3 months before we have a prototype I reckon

Oskar Potocki

Any idea when we will be able to test this? *crosses fingers*

Joseiltom Dantas

Joining in the sadness at loosing wolly (highland) cows and wolfhounds.

Robert McPherson

Alchemy! 😍

Rhaenys

Really sad to see the loss of the wooly cow and hound, those were two really awesome animals to see in my viking colonies. But I understand that you needed to trim the fat and not have too much bloat, so much respect. Might be nice to see some sort of a sidemod at some point that adds them.

Hunter Creed

Seconded!

Kristian West

They should go ahead and migrate the wolly cow into an animal mod.

Computica

Big YES! Most of the stuff I liked about the old VFE:Medieval and VFE:Vikings is in! Going to miss the Wolfhounds and Wooly Cows, the Heavy Crossbows (both of them) and the Psychic Cornucopia. But alas, sacrifices must be made... If I get it right, there will be no permanently hostile Medieval faction, then?

Kristian West

Really curious about the Alchemy Lab, Draughts, and the Crypto Forge. The stuff outside the circles won't be missed but I would like them to be integrated as styles if possible. EDIT: Let's migrate the Wolly Cow 🐄 🐮

Computica

I take back my like, as i now see you took out the wooly cow 😔

HeinrichK

Not my wooly cow! You can't do this to me! 🥺🥺

The Dragonborn

What, no more wooly cows :( They are my favorite animal (in real life).

Alissa DeWitt

Noooooo, not the wooly cow!!! 🥺 you can't do that to me... I'm gonna miss my adorable yet delicious friends... 😢

Carolin

Any chance the stuff that hasn't made the cut will show up elsewhere, or should we expect it to stay shelved for good? Most seem like very sensible cuts, but I'll miss the psychic cornucopia and wooly cows

Owain I Jones

Grand news! This is my most anticipated mod of yours at the moment!

Peter Dolin

So If I read this correctly, The items in the northern style are being removed as standalone items and instead are becoming ideology alternate art style for existing items. And everything else not in the central VFEM2 over lap are effectively getting the axe and will not be included in the final mod. Ill miss some of the stuff we are losing, but not THAT much. lots of it seems like redundancy anyway.

saltychipmunk190

Simply amazing! I love the idea of merging toghether and streamline this content. Can't wait seeing the new quests and the Traders Guild!

Davide Celli

Already the second post in a few hours! Oscar, you are on fire today! :) It took me a second to understand the color code: "Red" for VFE Medieval (the label is missing, by the way), "Blue" for VFE Vikings and "Green" for new additions. In the overlap of the venn diagram what we can expect to be included in the mod - but how to read the "norhern style" circle? Will this be part of this mod, added to "memes and structures" or an additional style? Personally, I am fine whith the cuts - and especially happy that you removed facepainting (which never really worked for me, as I couldn't *remove* an applied painting). A bit sad about the wooly cow, though.
