Progress & Thoughs - 09

I've been working in the prologue are and everything I need for it.
New attack animation progress, Hair flow.
This new animations are looking good! I wish I had the skills to do this from the start. But I guess we have to climb step by step.

I'm really happy with it, but I'm still struggling with the speed of animations to make the combat feel good.

Crawling re-addition mechanic.
Those who played very early versions of the game will remember crawling. It was a thing long ago, but I ended up removing it because I felt it was useless, well, I'm adding it again and rewrote the code entirely, so it works way better now. (the gif above was the first stage.)

There's an In/Out object to enter crawling state, this was simple to make, not a big deal.
But there's the next thing that I'm proud of.

Climbing up.
Yes, you can now climb up from a ledge (only if there's no solids above.)
But what's more, you can climb up to enter crawling! This was a really fun to work in, and opens a whole new world in level design.

Shatter Dagger. (New usable)
This new usable works perfect to take down enemies on distance, but their main purpose is to shatter these big blocks of cracked rock.

New Biomass sprite. A new Biomass.
I remade (again) the biomass sprite, now to something that fits what I originally wanted, a palpitating thing that grows around the island. (Someone suggested for it to throw poisonous smoke when attacked).

Dust.
Someone should clean this place! I added this dust mechanic to blocks, nothing too fancy, but it gives the game world some ambience.

Looped rooms/changing maps.
I wanted to do stuff like this for a long time, I find it really interesting.

So the idea of a Illunionist Boss did sound really interesting. Stay tuned for news c:

New NPC.
Hilda, the captain of the guard of Locktown. (I know it was Garret, but I decided to let Garret be the "mayor" of the town, and let Hilda care about protection.)
She's tough, serious and determined. She wont let anyone or anything harm the good people of Locktown.

Perks concept idea.
One of you guys suggested that upgrading stats could unlocks Perks, so stats have more use than just increase certains stuff like HP or Damage done.
I really liked the idea and started working in it. The idea is having 3 perks per stat, and be able to max only 2 stats up to level 40. So you can't get all the perks, meaning you'll have to choose to max 2 stats, or spend stats in multiple stats to get way more perks (since the last perks cost too many points to get.)

As you can see in the bottom-left, you start with stats at 15, and only need to spend 2 points to reach 17, where the first perk will be unlocked. So maybe it's better to spend points in various stats to unlock a lot of perks, than havint to spend 9 points in 1 single stat to unlock the last perk. It's all up to you.
I hope you're having a great time! now that summer is going away here, I'm eager to be able to sleep nice again.
