To me, this was an interesting, entertaining watch since it was really about the lives and relationships between a group of friends-- trauma-bonding and reminiscing galore! π

Thanks so much for this reaction! I hadnβt seen this movie in many years, but I always remember it fondly. No one has heard about it these days, but it was really big at the time and for a couple decades after. It was considered the movie that defined a generation - the Baby Boomers. It was buried a bit in the dialog, but they were a bunch of friends who shared a house in college in the 60s when they were idealistic and anti-establishment. Now they were all the establishment people they had hated. Their generation had become quite materialistic in the 80s and they werenβt really sure how it happened. I think the interesting connection between Alex (the dead guy) and Nick was that neither of them were able to βevolveβ with their generation. They didnβt fit into what was happening. They just drifted from job to job and were seen as aimless and unambitious. They walked away from opportunities for successful, respectable careers. It made sense that Nick appreciated the life that Alex led. Anyway, the movie spoke to a lot of people and the music was an amazing walk down memory lane.
