"Detective!"
You barely have time to step out of your transport into the rain-soaked mud before you're approached by a well-dressed agent under similar job arrangements as yourself. They lead you towards one of the dimly-lit houses you can spot on the edge of the forest. As you slosh through the soaked grass towards your destination, your eyes catch something curious on the ground.
"Offerings," the agent said, continuing their pace through the rain unabated. "To stop the Oni from raiding and...enlisting villagers. Unsuccessful."
They pause a few meters from the front door. "This house belongs to our most recent victim. Ended up corrupting and taking two more with them before escaping into the forest."
You hold still, then, take a deep breath in. Drawing in the smell of grass and cypress and petrichor and moss and...lust-?
The liaison gives you a look. "Well, detective, do you think you can handle it?"
