Couple that with the fact he is standing between two large speaker arrays at the front of the stage, that are pumping out extremely loud base driven beats, you get this distorted sound effect. Since it was a rehearsal, they couldn't use both the stage mics and a lav mic for his camera. The audio is bad as a result. But the video is clear and amazing.
