Great reaction. I think that you're looking at Marcel as if he doesn't have ties with the originals. He's the only person/vampire shown to ever be raised by the original family itself, even more so raised by Klaus as a mentor. Klaus is as arrogant as they come lol so it makes perfect sense Marcel is the way he is. Being a vampire raised by the originals is going going to make you arrogant or at least give you the natural confidence that he has as a leader.

He’s older, mentored by Klaus himself,, had the advantage of an emotional connection to the Originals, a vampire army who look up to him, the witches under his thumb and the most powerful with in NOLA by his side. He’s kind of a natural born leader. I don’t know what the hell Stefan and Damon were doing in almost 200 years where they didn’t manage to get the slightest bit of power.
