ESKIE EFFECTS - 💥 DEATH & DAMAGE v1.2.0 Update

Yo!

After last month’s update went all-in on attacks, it only felt right that this one is all about dealing DAMAGE. This update also includes some "unique" masking effects that let us delete tokens in the most stylish ways possible, introducing a proper DEATH effect for when things go very wrong. 💥 DAMAGE EFFECTS

I always felt like I was missing some generic ass damage effects to pair with all my attacks and spells. Well… not anymore! Now we don’t just have a couple, we’ve got ALL the damages!

This update includes effects of 13 damage types (bludgeoning, piercing, slashing, fire, cold, electricity, acid, poison, thunder, psychic, radiant, necrotic, and force), each with their own color variants.

🎯 CRITICAL HIT EFFECTS

Sometimes when you deal damage, you land a CRIT. Because of that, it was important to include dedicated critical hit effects that can be layered on top of the damage effects. These were heavily inspired by the thunderous power lines you see in fighting games. Something sharp that felt good to see during a combo of attacks. Just slap one of these on top of your damage effect to really show how massive that hit was.

There are 3 critical hit effects, and each one comes in all the base colors, making them easy to pair with any damage type without much color tweaking.

💀 "DEATH" EFFECTS

Okay… so what the hell are these texture_mask.tile_base effects, and why am I showing them off as a Death" effect? That’s because these effects are what let us erase tokens using unique, animated transitions. Your token gets masked into the effect, only appearing where the animation is white. Creating the illusion that the token is burning away, shattering, disappearing, or tearing itself apart.

BUT there's a trick on how you're suppose to use them!

Create a "death" effect, by masking the token onto the tile base, then masking a matching effect onto the token.

So there's a bit of a role reversal happening here. Instead of using the Tile Base as an effect, you need to use the file as a TILE. Now with the .copySprite() method in Sequencer you can make an effect copy of your token, that can mask onto the Tile Base. From there, you may layer in a matching effect and you got yourself a token that is burning away.

Obviously, it's easier said than done. To do this in a macro PERFECTLY, is complicated... BUT DON'T WORRY, I’ll be posting a Death Effect macro on Discord soon, so you can just copy and paste it into your game.
