Zohran Mamdani - NYC primary in numbers

A while back (about a month ago) I did a shout-out to one Zohran Mamdani running for mayor of NYC. He subsequently won the primary, for which I take full credit (general election is in November). I decided to write up a (belated) summary post about the election results, some key numbers about the demographics of how it all played out, and some myths about the general election that I've seen spread by (allegedly) competent political analysts in the media.

I may write a second post about lessons learned & where it's all going from here, we'll see.

Zohran Mamdani - NYC primary in numbers

Comments

I think Zohran Mamdani is a terrible choice for mayor. Cuomo is a horrible choice for mayor. My primary objection to Mamdani has nothing to do with his politics. It is rather that the most people he's been in charge of in his life is 5, at his state rep office. I find it utterly irresponsible to put a man who has employed 5 people in charge of a bureaucracy that employs 800,000. Unlike many other cities in this country, NYC has a strong-mayor system of government where none of this is put in control of a city manager who has gone to school for this shit and that actually matters a lot. It's a damn shame he's the man who emerged through the primary. We had better choices. It's a shame Kathryn Garcia didn't run again.
