A final 48 hours backer if I've ever heard of one :P

The King of Average

My wife had Dark Tower as a kid so the good memories keep flooding into her brain...she hasn't backed it yet, but I see her trigger finger twitching!

Hah thanks! :D I think I might swap it out a bit and have me larger and my screen smaller, as I ended up not using the screen that much, but otherwise I enjoyed the format :)

Yeah exactly! I get it, it takes A LOT to run an active campaign, but you had already decided to spend that effort on it before so it's not an actual loss in that regard. Beyond the Monolith I can understand a bit more. It was apparent that what they were offering wasn't something highly desired (at least as they currently set it up) so hyping it knowing you weren't going to offer it again would have been wasted time. As always, it's never quite black and white :)

The King of Average

Yeah I'll mention it in next week's video for sure :)

Soo...since you mentioned Return to Dark Tower KoA, will you be doing a video on it? Would love to hear your thoughts on it. At first glance it seemed like the game relied a lot on a gimmick (the cool looking tower!) but after a deeper look I really like the talent behind it all and can see the potential for a good game under the hood (or tower) so to speak.

My lady and I are in the same boat Steven. We have a weekly 4 player gaming group meetup at my place on Saturday nights and Jenn & I game as much as we can, which due to work, is only 3 to 6 hours a week. Too many games and not enough time indeed! So we have been getting real picky as well of late. It really bugs me to see a game I spent good money on and a lot of time painting sit and collect dust just because we have too many good games to choose from. Luckily I have a brother with 3 young boys that are all coming to age and can start to enjoy entry level games. So I have someone to hand down dusty unplayed but still very good games to.

I also totally get what you are saying about funding goals. I may not like it but I see why a lot of companies do it that way. What ticked me off with DG is that they threw in the towel way to early imho. They saw the numbers stall and the start sliding slowly backwards, which is sometimes the case with EB’s, and they panicked. From the piss poor KS trailer, the issues with previous projects and the inability to even try to turn things around really soured me on this company. Trudvang anyone? Talk about a poorly ran KS campaign for a week or so that was drastically changed and turned around. Or the handful of projects that stalled but would change strategies to daily unlocks to create excitement. As you said, DG could’ve done more and at the very least create buzz and cancel Neo in the final days if they were not happy with it. Too bad too because Tony and Tracy were great in the comments. Kudos to them.

Yeah you really opened up a can of worms with this one! My wife and I have been tracking this stuff like a bunch of nerds for a while now. There's actually almost too much to discuss...I need a scotch and a valium just to wrap my brain around it! Thank God I'm not a very good typer or this damn thing would run on forever! I agree with everything you said and thanks for bringing this up. I predict that we are going to see a lot more projects cancelling. There are multiple reasons for this but I think one of them is market saturation. We have hit the point where it's just too much! My wife and I try to game every night (don't judge me) lol and we also back a lot of games (too many). So, now we are at the point where we are looking at every Kickstarter very closely and saying "how often are we really going to play that? Not to mention, I paint minis and I'm now up to my elbows in awesome little minis. That's all fine and good but I think a lot of people are in the same boat as us. There is just physically not enough time, and I think we are looking at games a little more closely now. Not to mention when this whole thing started you could actually watch numbers grow and possibly the stretch goal thing was real thing. Now (some) projects hit their goal in 12 seconds so why even call those little carrots stretch goals? Ok, thanks Mike, you broke me out of my comfortable shell and made me babble on like a maniac! Anyhoo! Great video and now it's whiskey time!

Great video KoA! I like your new format as it a clean slick way to put information on the screen. I also really like your Batman painting behind you;-)
