Chapter 729: A Change Is Coming
Added 2024-12-13 15:02:10 +0000 UTCLan Ning and Lan Yi had originally been speculating about which powerful figure had encountered Lan Feng'er and bestowed such a great fortune upon her and the Sky Blue Phoenix Clan.
In the end, they could never have imagined that it was Lin Qian!
They had never paid much attention to Lan Feng'er’s son-in-law and knew nothing about his past, so naturally, they hadn’t taken him seriously.
However, the reality was far beyond their expectations. Both men looked at Lin Qian with newfound seriousness and respect.
At the same time, they couldn’t comprehend how someone at only the ninth level, sixth rank of the Body Refinement Realm could accomplish such incredible things.
“Your junior will take his leave!” Lin Qian didn’t bother with their stunned expressions. After a polite nod, he turned and left. He still had work to do with Ye Xin in handling the affairs of the Huaxia Empire.
Even though he was so far away, Lin Qian could still manage matters on Hunwu Star through the Empire’s system. He processed political affairs remotely and delegated part of the workload to his wife, Ye Xin.
In some areas, Ye Xin was even more adept than him, and Lin Qian felt grateful to have such a capable partner by his side.
Once Lin Qian had left their sight, Lan Ning and Lan Yi finally snapped out of their daze.
“He’s gone. We should have kept him here for a more thorough conversation,” Lan Ning said, smacking his forehead lightly, regretting the missed opportunity.
Seeing Lin Qian leave in a hurry after delivering the cultivation techniques, Lan Feng'er chuckled, knowing her son-in-law was likely busy. She understood that, as the emperor of the Huaxia Empire, Lin Qian had many affairs to manage.
She marveled at how Lin Qian could still handle the Empire’s governance from such a vast distance. But then again, she had long grown accustomed to her son-in-law’s many wonders.
“We’re all family. He’s your grandson-in-law and great-grandson-in-law; he won’t run off anywhere,” Lan Feng'er said with a smile, then turned to her father. “Well, Father, giving this son-in-law a spot now doesn’t seem like a loss, does it?”
Lan Yi let out a bitter laugh and looked at his daughter with a playful exasperation. “If I had known this sooner, you could have told me earlier, and we’d have avoided all this!”
Lan Ning, still staring at the books on the table, was filled with awe. He hadn’t yet recovered from the shock. “How on earth did this young man named Lin Qian achieve such things?”
“It seems that the one who made these improvements is one of his ministers, his empire’s prime minister, someone named Zhuge Ming…” Lan Feng'er explained briefly. She told them how Lin Qian had inherited an ancient empire’s legacy and had risen to become its emperor, the ruler of a significant power.
Although the place was still relatively remote, Lan Feng'er spoke highly of the Huaxia Empire, sharing stories of its wonders and peculiarities.
“The phrase ‘Each person has their talents, and all races are equal, each contributing to the whole’…” Among everything Lan Feng'er described, what intrigued Lan Ning the most were Lin Qian’s governing philosophies.
Repeating the words softly, Lan Ning sighed in admiration. “Remarkable. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Huaxia Empire becomes the true hegemon of the Hai Xuan Star Domain, and the Hai Xuan Sacred Academy becomes part of it.”
“What?” Lan Feng'er was stunned, staring at her grandfather, unable to find the words.
What did he mean by the Hai Xuan Sacred Academy becoming part of the Huaxia Empire?
“Father, isn’t that a bit far-fetched? How could that ever happen?” Lan Yi was equally shocked, wide-eyed and incredulous, unable to fathom why his father was saying such things.
Seeing their reactions, Lan Ning shook off his reverie and quickly corrected himself. “There are some ancient stories behind all of this. In time, you’ll come to understand. But it seems, Feng'er, that your daughter has brought a great benefactor to our clan.”
“By the way, what is the potential of this great-grandson-in-law of mine?”
Hearing her grandfather’s question, Lan Feng'er’s expression changed as memories of Lin Qian sparring with her husband, Ye Nanxin, came flooding back. The scene had been utterly terrifying.
Seeing her reaction, Lan Ning furrowed his brow. “Could it be that his aptitude is lacking? Should we consider enhancing it using our clan’s Phoenix Fire Tree?”
Upon hearing this, Lan Feng'er realized her grandfather had misunderstood her expression. She quickly shook her head. “There’s no need to improve his aptitude. In fact, I believe he’s already far too powerful.”
“Twelve layers of soul light for a human. Grandfather, you’ve likely never seen such a thing. And he has two martial souls that he can wield simultaneously.”
“His three types of soul power are completely integrated, and his two martial souls can even merge into one.”
Lan Feng'er's words left Lan Ning and Lan Yi utterly speechless. They had never imagined that Lin Qian’s talent would be so extraordinary.
Lan Ning rubbed his head and chuckled bitterly before turning back to Lan Feng'er. “Feng'er, just where did your son-in-law come from? The fact that he’s reached twelve layers of soul light alone would be enough to drive the entire human race wild.”
“After all, no one has ever heard of a human achieving such a feat.”
After a long silence, Lan Ning glanced at the books on his desk and spoke again. “Feng'er, you should return for now. Your father and I have some matters to discuss.”
“Understood.” Lan Feng'er nodded, a smile spreading across her face. “So, no need to worry about the Cold Flame Phoenix Clan’s provocations anymore, right?”
Hearing the name of the Cold Flame Phoenix Clan, Lan Yi snorted coldly. “Of course. I doubt they ever imagined our branch would encounter such fortune.”
“By the way, Father, my son-in-law has also done something to your son-in-law that has changed him dramatically. When the time comes, it will be a massive surprise.” Before leaving, Lan Feng'er turned and spoke mysteriously. Then, without waiting for her father’s reaction, she quickly departed.
Lan Yi was about to ask her more when he realized she had already disappeared. With an exasperated sigh, he turned to his father.
“I know what you’re thinking. This is a monumental event for our clan, but before anything else, we must remove the rot within our ranks,” Lan Ning said, his expression growing serious as he looked at the books on his desk. “Lin Qian… I have a feeling that our clan is about to undergo a transformation because of him, reaching heights we’ve never seen before. No…”
“Not just our clan, but every race within their Huaxia Empire.”
“A change is coming!”
