Now Taking Commissions! - UPDATE: COMMS CLOSED
Added 2024-11-12 14:31:12 +0000 UTCUpdate: I have now filled all my available slots, and so I cannot take on any more commissions right now. My sincerest apologies to those whose commissions I wasn't able to take this time. Since I received interest from several people who I'd needed to turn down the last time I opened commissions, I elected to primarily give those people the commission slots this time around. Next time, I'll extend the same courtesy to the people whose commissions I wasn't able to take right now, and then going forward I will be using a random lottery draw to decide which commissions I accept
Now that I have nothing in my queue, I am opening up to take on a few commissions once more! If you're interested, the way it works is very simple: you can send me a message me on here and explain to me what it is that you'd like to see, and we'll go from there. Below are a few bulletpoints to give you a little more basic information:
-I'll write your idea, and it can be as detailed or as vague as you like. If you want to leave things up to me and supply little more than a prompt or a theme, that's totally fine. If you have a super detailed idea you want me to be faithful to, that's equally fine
-I'm not going to promise that I'll write ANYTHING, and I reserve the right to decline commissions for any reason, but I'm generally open-minded and open to writing a variety of things
-That said, your commissions should please be appropriate and on-theme for my writing and the places I post it
-My standard rate is $5/100 words. For reference, my average story/chapter is about 6000 words, but I can write shorter or longer
-Open to single-chapter or multiple-chapter commissions
-I take payment when the story or chapter is finished and ready to deliver, not in advance
-I prefer to use PayPal invoices for payment, although if that doesn't work for you we can easily find something else
There are one or two things I'd like to elaborate on. Firstly, my open-mindedness: I know that some people can be nervous to communicate their ideas, especially when those are quite specific or touch on sensitive areas. I can't make that nervousness go away, unfortunately, but I can promise from the bottom of my heart that I will be entirely professional and non-judgmental with you, no matter what. There's no need to worry about being too forward, or too detailed, or weirding me out. Trust me, you won't offend me. My messages are a safe space.
Secondly, on multi-chapter commissions: it's become quite common for people to commission these from me, and I have absolutely no problem with that. However, this year I've had a few issues with commissioners of these series dropping out of contact after a time, leaving me in the lurch. I won't name any of those people, but if you're wondering what happened to Viewer Participation or The Subordinate... yeah. This puts me in a really awful position. If I finish the series pro bono, I'm out of pocket and I signal to people that I'm easily ripped off. If I don't, then I'm leaving a story in a perpetually unfinished state which is very unsatisfying to me, as a writer, plus I feel it's unfair to the rest of my patrons and readers. So, if you're going to commission an entire series from me, I'd ask that you be sure you're in it for the distance. Having said that, I understand it's a pretty significant financial commitment, so I'd like to add that if money ever becomes an issue I will be 100% understanding of that. If you talk to me about it, I will be more than happy to put things on hold, or work out some kind of other plan that suits us both. That's another promise. Please just don't go dark on me - not knowing what's going on and not hearing from people makes my life very difficult.
As a final note, last time my commission slots filled up extremely quickly. Obviously that's great for me, but I hate to think that people who aren't quite so quick off the mark are missing out on their chance. Therefore, if it looks like the same thing is going to happen again, I'm going to figure out a system other than first come, first served to make sure everybody who's interested gets a fair shot
