Update on the audiobook situation: The Good and The Bad

As mentioned in the Status Update earlier, I have some news to share regarding the audiobooks. Like in the title, we have some bad and good ones.

Let's start with the worst.

Shortly after the release of Volume 1 in audio, I've learned that the male narrator is stepping down, in general. I've been doing some talking with my publisher and that person but, unfortunately, nothing can be done about that. Therefore, as you can imagine, we won't see Robert Bradvica and Alyssa Poon anytime soon for TWS Vol. 2 or any further ones. 

Since then, I've been working hard to resolve that issue. I know some of you enjoy audiobooks and are eagerly waiting for the next ones. It's been tough, honestly. There's never one good option. Pretty much everything is bad since we will be switching narrators and it might turn people off.

Now, let's get to some good news before we continue the bad ones.

We've come to a decision and secured a narrator for the entirety of the series, to avoid similar situations. Yay! They will start working on our stuff in early April, most likely. They are extremely busy. And why is that? Because they are extremely popular.

Some of you might recognize the name. Amber Lee Connors. 

Yeah, the book will be switching to a single female narrator, unfortunately. But, I think we've secured a great deal this time. If you don't know that person, a quick Google will reveal anything. We've pretty much gotten ourselves a true, professional voice actor to cover our book!

Again, the bad side of that.

Due to the aforementioned change, Volume 1 has to be rerecorded to avoid utter confusion. I asked how that would work for people who already purchased it, hoping that we can just replace the cover and audio file, having it updated in their libraries, but only received disappointment as an answer.

The audio will have to be fully re-released, meaning the previous one will stay in your libraries but the new one will have to be purchased, and won't be available to be purchased after it's taken down on the release of the 2nd one.

It sucks, honestly. I hate it. Yet, I can't do anything. That's just how Audible works. It's a pain in the ass.

The only thing I can actually do is try to offer free codes to you here when it drops, just like with Volume 1. And I will surely do that. But still, that's like nothing. I feel like I failed those who bought it for collection and now would be forced to do it again if they wanted to keep it consistent. 

So, yeah.

We are already working on things. And there won't be any quits again unless something truly critical happens. Amber is a full pro, voicing characters and books for long already. I'll keep you updated on things as much as possible. At least, we will get our next books decently fast now. And I do look forward to hearing her voice a few of our characters. Might be tough unhearing the old ones, though :P
