She's always been on him with her little teases, jokes, or even trying to woo girls his way. They had a discussion about her finding a partner, which again was part teasing, part serious and it's quite clear I think where these parts were. I would honestly prefer Ast to stop trying to set his mother up with people and let her live how she wants to, it kind of comes across like Ast thinks she can't live a happy life without having to find a "partner" not everyone wants to get married or such, to me it comes off as him actually thinking less of his mother than supporting her, just my two pennies
