Hard-Life Development Update: Big Changes, More Time Needed
Hey everyone,
We wanted to give you all an honest update on where things stand with Hard-Life. We’ve been working hard behind the scenes, bringing new technology into the mod—most notably, Half-Life Ray Tracing. This is a huge step forward for the project, but it’s also proving to be a massive challenge.
Server Browser List is Working – Multiplayer functionality is coming together smoothly.
Ray Tracing Integration – The lighting, reflections, and shadows are looking incredible, and we’re excited to show you how it transforms the game.
The biggest hurdle right now is that we have to reprogram all of Hard-Life to work with a new SDK. That’s not a small task—it means rewriting a ton of code, debugging, and making sure everything runs as it should.
On top of that, every single map needs to be re-lit or adjusted to make the most of the new ray tracing effects. We don’t want to just slap it in—we want it to look right and still feel like Hard-Life, just better.
We know waiting sucks, and we really appreciate your patience. We’ll be sharing screenshots soon so you can see the progress for yourself. We just need more time to get things to a place we’re happy with before pushing anything out.
Thanks for sticking with us. We’re excited about what’s coming, and we hope you will be too.
The Hard-Life Team
I've uploaded some good screenshots and some bad, so you can see why polish is needed before we throw something out there. No point in giving you something that is barely playable.
