Changes are coming to the No-Intro DAT sets.
Added 2024-08-15 16:33:57 +0000 UTCThere has been a push in the no-Intro world to pull apart a number of DATs into two separate DATs.
A number of DAT will be splitting into:
Machine Life DAT and an After Market DAT
Where Machine Life is real 'games' released for the system during its actual release life cycle.
After Market is anything else like games made by individuals more recently.
For example: A2600 will split into:
A2600 <-- Known as the Machine Life DAT and
A2600 (Aftermarket)
DatVault will be making this change in the next couple of days.
The DATs you have today will be updated to the Machine Life DATs.
And you will soon see new DATs appearing as the Aftermarket DATs.
Many people are saying they are really only interested in the original content for these older systems, which is why the aftermarket DAT has been split out.

2024-10-11 12:31:54 +0000 UTCI can totally see why it's needed ! There was some studio quality released after Machine Life though, but where would one cut the line ? Maybe if there's a commercial release ...

That just means stuff like Retro-Bit and Limited run will be in with the retails if it is a reissue of a game that was licensed in the past. That would also keep all versions of a title together.

2024-08-15 19:41:02 +0000 UTCMate, i was just hoping for “sometime in 2024” so that’s great.

2024-08-15 17:40:47 +0000 UTCCannot give an exact date, my life is to crazy to commit to one, but the code changes are in a final testing phase, so likely just a few days before this goes live, all being well.

2024-08-15 17:24:22 +0000 UTCI’ve wanted this for years. Really excited to hear this. When will it happen?

2024-08-15 17:22:39 +0000 UTCI believe it is also an issue of some dats being overflooded with aftermarkets, like Atari, or I believe Jaguar was mentioned. Some where they are outnumbering the retail. Even people who want both want to be able to see the originals by themselves in a separate list.

2024-08-15 17:01:09 +0000 UTCThat sounds like a good idea. There's a lot of churn with the way it's currently done. This will cut down on that and probably make it easier to find what you're looking for.
