That's a powerful and definitely dangerous Lucky Star power you have there, Rose. I can see how things would unravel very quickly in their family with something like that constantly present.

Any update?

I can't say how excited I am to see things starting to flow, and especially to learn about this family's past. My interest has been there since the beginning, and as things have gone on I have only found myself more intrigued.

Hey Ken, don't worry, I appreciate the criticism. I will be the first to admit that most of this arc of Poppy has been setting up previews of seemingly invincible antagonists to be more satisfactorily confronted later on, which probably got a bit tiring some time back. In retrospect, I suppose I could have included a few more one-shot encounters with lesser Chicadino lackeys Poppy could definitively trounce. As far as characterization goes, it's less "Jekyll and Hyde," and more the inherent complexity of people, I think. In general, I have a bad habit of making settings and character interactions more complicated than they probably need to be, and having things continue to develop outside of Poppy's sphere of influence. This means that things can easily become muddled for a reader who hasn't refreshed in a while, or who skimmed, but it can also make it more rewarding for those who re-read and discover details they didn't before, which is my favorite aspect of storytelling. Ultimately, Poppy is just as much my ongoing attempt to work out the kinks in my writing style as it is a story in its own right, so I feel even my failures have been a valuable experience. -I. Everett

Hello I. Everett, I'm a big Poppy fan, but I can't resist throwing my 2 cents in. I hope you'll bear with me. I know I'm only a dollar a page contributor, but I'm also an old King of the Hill veteran, and an animation teacher. I've followed your comic a few years now, and there's a few some things that still leave me scratching my head. I enjoy your comic, but it gets hard to follow sometimes. There's big jumps in panel to panel action that don't seem clear, at least to me. Storywise, it is interesting how your characters suddenly reveal some ominous facets to their identities, I hope it's more than just some Dr. Jekyll and Hyde situation. Many of your characters seem to be living terrible lies, while some even hide godlike powers. Maybe Poppy is getting too close to the truth. I'm not asking for Saturday morning level stuff. But when a story seems ready to climax, Poppy's opponents vanish, or they leave no useful clues about who they are or why they are such a threat. Villains like that are invincible, but maybe that's your point. And then I'm left hanging. No foul there, you've got me hooked. I admire the complexity of the subplots and side characters you've got going here, but when a new chapter starts, there's no more info on the last battle. I hope we can be entitled to maybe just a few more clues sometime. My other concern is so much time passes that when the real BIG BAD (or multiple Big Bads) finally emerge, a broader audience won't remember their connection to the main story. My hope is that Poppy will make it big time, without compromising your vision of the story and characters. It's a tough row to hoe, but it's your show. Thanks for reading my hot air, and I wish you much success. Best, Ken R.
