CULTURAL APPROPRIATION IN K-POP: Let's Talk About It

Hey y'all, it's Khadija. 👋🏾 Since I posted my ALLDAY PROJECT reaction over on my personal channel, I'm seeing a lot of discourse in the comment section about Tarzzan specifically. I didn't know anything about this group before I filmed my reaction and I hadn't heard any of the "controversy" online about him... but I'm seeing in the comments that this is a big topic surrounding this group right now. He is FAR FROM the first idol to face this criticism, but I guess he's (one of) the most recent.

I am finding myself bothered by a lot of what I'm seeing in my comments. Not the topic itself, but the WAY people are approaching this discussion. So I'd like to open the floor for us to genuinely discuss cultural appropriation, particularly of Black American culture, in the k-pop industry.

Let's be open to hearing each other, respectful in the way we speak to one another, and willing to look at other perspectives to try to understand. WE ARE ALL FRIENDS over on the K-Pop W/ Khadija channel, we all love k-pop, we all appreciate everything that goes into creating this industry... so let's keep that perspective and just really be open to the conversation. K? I believe that this will be a good conversation! 💚
