Regarding Current Events
Added 2022-03-07 01:46:10 +0000 UTCI did not start out writing a story about war with the expectation that it would become this relevant to current events. I've spent the past year or so marinating in the history of WWI and hearing about the devastation it wrought on Europe; now we are faced with an echo of that tragedy in Russia's senseless invasion of Ukraine.
Many of the posters I edit are not from the war itself, but from the extensive relief efforts to rebuild the destroyed cities and infrastructure of Europe after the war had passed. In that tradition, I invite everyone reading to consider giving to reputable charitable organizations that are supporting the displaced victims of the conflict in Ukraine, as well as those affected by the countless other regional wars and conflicts that pass beneath the notice of most western media. I have donated my February Patreon proceeds to Médecins Sans Frontières as a start, and would also like to provide this list of reputable charities that are providing aid at the highest standards of efficiency, transparency and efficacy.

Fantastic commentary. I wish more folks in the US in particular were more familiar with the history that led up to WW1 and WW2—particularly how conflicts outside of those wars set the stage for them. Good in you for calling this out and directing some money to where it’s needed. You have my respect and continued patronage.
