Patron News and Sneak Peak for March

Hi Guys, once again it's time for me to share an exclusive look at what I've been up to recently.

I have plans to re-visit the OSR3 with a 3D printed design, as well as future designs with more movement axes. That's progressing, but I'm not yet ready to share that.

Meanwhile the OSR2 has been incredibly popular. Sadly I have no way of counting, but it's entirely possible that there are already a hundred or so of them out in the wild after less than a month! I therefore thought it would be cool if I could release a simple add-on that would increase the OSR2's capabilities.

So introducing the OSR2 Pitcher prototype. This is a literal bolt-on module that goes on the side of an OSR2. The third servo manipulates the support arm, which allows the toy to be pitched as well as rolled. For those of you who use VaM this enables a mind-blowing extra dimension to the kinds of movements the OSR2 can replicate.

I plan to release the finished OSR2 Pitcher in the $8 tier in March.

For those of you on the $2 tier I have a couple of things coming up. I have a video on how to make an external power bus (useful if you want a lot of fast movement and don't want to fry the Romeo) and I also have a 3D-printed VESA desk clamp that I will get around to releasing soon.

I want to say a big thanks to all of you have have joined and are supporting my work, and oh my goodness I wasn't expecting the reception that my work has received! It really motivates me to keep releasing the best quality work I can.

Are you on Discord? Raser1's had a go at this recently.

Looking forward to March's releases.

I was wondering about the same thing Stacker asked about. How hard would it be to write an application that records a a script for simple playback to go along with a vr video? Either using a Vive controller, or a joystick, or even a mouse?

Robert Colby

Thanks for the info. So JFP allows you to code your own video? I thought it was just a player.

Stacker2020

Raser1's JFP app is the place to start, but it's single axis only - as in anything encoded for the FL launch. As yet we don't have an app that can do multi-axis video scripting. I'm sure it's just a matter of time.

Sick!! So how does one encode their own videos with this .. I'd like to expand my usage beyond vam.
