Wouldn't the rifle have seen use later than 1939 seeing as the picture shown shows a German soldier handling a presumably captured SVT?

what was the ammo used in the 98 m? looks fairly mild. ok that is not a 98k but still. unless the slowmo. that seems more 8milish. I like 303 much better myself. maybe you find a 98k with a langvisier on it down the road.... extra mauser episode...

Oh boy immediate post-war German history! I'm sure this will be clear and concise with lots of surviving historical documents!
I joke, but it is a fascinating era for development, so many ideas thrown at the wall ranging from extreme austerity even before the depression, to 'War is over forever' to full research and development with armor and air power. When I've requested information from museums and universities in Germany there is always at least a 25% chance I get an apologetic email along the lines of "...unfortunately our archives were bombed no less than 30 separate times during WWII, frankly it is miracle we even have what we do now."

Terrific how! I can’t wait to see the new format. Thanks for the in-depth content. Also, thanks for showing the 98k as u have an ERMA 27 Code Russian capture. Aside from my 2 Garands, it’s my favorite.

Yes. Good catch. Also, the 8×50mmR Lebel is normally listed as possessing a .323 or .327 nominal diameter. I've never seen .319 cited.

Good job but I believe there is a fault at 13:10 with the bullet diameter.

great job. one small point for safety sake and clarity: @~39:20, the bolts are not technically interchangeable in that each mauser bolt must provide proper headspace, so someone needing a bolt might think he can just buy a bolt and it'll fit and provide proper headspace. well, it might function, but it might NOT provide proper headspace.
