Have to look at mine, but I remember it's rivetless, and not a maker mentioned widely. Still a classic 7.65, but as I recall, it keyholes badly.

As a gunsmith and machinist. The cocking serrations on the slide were not done on a lathe. 1. there would be equal serrations opposite of the existing serrations 2. It’s a complicated and difficult setup with a tight radius 3. The bottom of the serrations appear square (a square tool able to make that tight radius would be very fragile) 4. The cuts could be easily make on a rotary table in a mill with a jig for indexing the following cuts 5. The straight cuts are quite easy and these curved cuts are more complicated/time consuming/fancy.

America, at a Federal level, has never had a designated official language - it is sometimes said that the Founders considered adopting Greek to spite England. Since the 1980's quite a few individual states have declared English to be an official language, but from 1923-69 the offical language of Illinois was "American". Alaska has 21 offical languages including "Siberian Yupik". Hawai'ian is co-official in Hawai'i, Sioux is co-official in South Dakota. Pennsylvia recognises neither English nor their local German dialect as official.

The official language of the USA is English, and it's difficult enough getting the population to speak it properly, we're certainly not going to waste time and resources teaching them to butcher someone else's language too.

We don't teach foreign languages that young because we don't want our kids speaking in a language we don't understand. I wish I was joking.

Just a note to Othais: #1 - there is no "W" in Guernica (say "glare" minus the "L", emphasize "KNEE", end with "kuh."] Most words in Spanish are going to have the emphasis on the next to last syllable, and "gu" is a hard "G" as in "Go" in Spanish. An aspirated "H" like we English speakers use is going to be spelled either with a "J" or a "G" in Spanish, depending upon the following vowel. I took high school Spanish a lifetime ago, so I can't recall all the rules. Sue me.
#2 - "Astra" is Latin [& Spanish] for "star;" I have no idea what "star" is in Basque, but it's a fair guess that it's a word that has NO cognate with any other language on Earth: Basque is an "island" language with no known relatives. There's an old saying in French or Spanish [can't recall which] that translates to "The Devil cannot tempt a Basque, because he can't learn their language." Really tough to learn if you're not raised from infancy speaking it, from what I understand. Kids are flat out AMAZING language machines; it's super stupid that we don't have all the language classes in K-3 here in the States; instead we wait until high school when it is almost too late to have any chance at fluency...

yeah it beats throwing rocks and makes some hole but... I would have a hard time about a 32. rather bigger gun in a bigger caliber. being issued gives few choices though. ok the ruby has some smart design ideas and is simple at least.

That what? This is unexpected but it makes making a comment to appease The Algorithm much easier. And now on with the show!

Squibs were only for firearms too hard to shoot. However, we would still need to pay hands on one for table demonstration and to confirm the animations. Usually by the time we can lay hands we can fire.

Good episode. I´d buy Ruby book if it´s would be available. Minor correction, according to my book(Palokangas: Military small arms in Finland 1918-1988) Finns bought 10 000 Ruby´s after the great war, not 9000.

Wonder how long before anyone figures out who Archie Leach was...without using the web.

Only needs Othais to do his best Archie Leach impression saying "Ruby, Ruby, Ruby..." as the opener!

What ever happened with the idea for "squib" episode for the weapons that are too rare find or shoot? Would still love to see a video on guns like the Fiat–Revelli Modello 1914, Fedorov Avtomat, Schwarzlose Machine Gun, Colt Potato Digger, Saint Etienne M1907. Even if you can't shoot them or even have them in person.
