I'm also wanting to get a nice shed for the backyard. Then I bought 3 handguns this month. The struggle is real.

2020-05-28 22:01:11 +0000 UTCIf you're going to be spending a few days in Springfield, try and set aside a few hours to drive up I91 to the American Precision Museum in Windsor. They've got a great collection of machine tools from the rise of serial manufacturing.

2020-05-24 15:21:38 +0000 UTC“It feels like we’re living in a zoo”.... my wife says hold her beer and read this: one cockatoo, 4 parakeets, 3 guinea pigs, 1 fat rabbit, 2 bearded dragons, 1 western hognose snake, 20-30 giant spiny stick insects, 3 jumping spiders (1 regal and 2 diardiis) and 30+ tarantulas of various shapes and sizes, all in individual vivariums, and 1 baby asian forest scorpion. Phew. She is a tad animal mad. On the upside she got the loan for my corvette in her name as the finance was cheaper, and has done the same previously for a motorbike. She’s a keeper!

2020-05-24 15:21:01 +0000 UTCHey guys, I was wondering if it would be okay to drop in on the voice channel. I'd love to talk but I'm afraid of interrupting.

2020-05-24 09:19:53 +0000 UTCRe the 1911 episode: Have you hit up the Browning museum in Ogden for pics? Much tinier than Cody, but it is a wondrous land of many prototypes.

2020-05-23 15:20:55 +0000 UTCI think you underestimate the warm healing power of the Othias-voice - perhaps familiarity breeds contempt? I think people would listen to older episodes as a way of reviewing the history parts while, say, commuting or even when gaming or doing chores. It's just a low cost way of adding some value for subscribers, maybe a couple of people would bump up to a higher level? Regular Q&A podcasts for top-tiers could be a draw as well. The same drawback of having primarily visual sections would apply equally to The McCollum's output.

2020-05-23 11:23:38 +0000 UTCThanks for the referral. I'll shoot him an email. I was thinking of asking the guys at the cost museum as many of the gun manufacturers of the mid 1800's supplied molds for their guns. Also, I believe Ideal mold company which became Lyman might have some info. I'll start with the Paterson Colt as that's the only one I know is sure to be included in the series

2020-05-23 09:51:58 +0000 UTCMike Venturino would be the best source on what were historical molds for black powder cartridges.

2020-05-23 00:59:25 +0000 UTCCanadian coming? Is it a Master of the Mustache that uses "Muzzleloaders"?

2020-05-23 00:27:08 +0000 UTCCurious, my friend's Newfoundland has a tumor on her 'wrist' and the Vet gave him a '$567,309 or DEATH" as his only options. Do you know if this is this common for Nufi's?

2020-05-23 00:20:07 +0000 UTCAnother interesting Unloaded, thank you. Wanted to pass on EXTRA thanks for the last edition, was completly ignorant of the Silah Report absolutely love it! When it comes to the 1911 episode PLEASE take your time and drop when it drops. It is not like it is the Jager and very little information is available if folks are hungry. Really enjoy and respect the work, thanks.

2020-05-22 22:57:28 +0000 UTCMae responding: We come back to this idea every once in a while. Essentially the main reason it keeps getting bounced back is because there are numerous times we go "look at this thing!" and "see how when I do this it does that" and those bits would just not translate to audio.

2020-05-22 20:22:39 +0000 UTCGood idea! Othias are you at least set up as a basic not-for-profit? I have a small NFP that publishes an ejournal and it does help with stuff.

2020-05-22 17:41:26 +0000 UTCSo now you can upload the audio for all 123 Primer episodes through the same channel ... ? (joke) or just the new ones going forward? I believe Forgotten Ian does this for $3 and above.
David Brewer
2020-05-22 16:05:42 +0000 UTCI've learned about or gained interest in more non-gun subjects than I ever expected, thanks to this show. The mishmash of chemistry, metallurgy, manufacturing processes, logistics, politics, economics, and personalities that result in this gun with these features getting into the hand of that army at that time and in that quantity is something I'd never really thought about before. But it's a fascinating rabbit hole to dive down, and I'm glad there are people like you who can communicate all these complicated relationships in a way that is entertaining and educational for us non-SME folks out here. Thank you and your team for all the hard work!

2020-05-22 16:02:38 +0000 UTCThat's why my wife doesn't like having it on at bedtime! The Q&A's with you and Mae or Ian? She's out like a light. She'll rewatch the Thank episodes anytime, though.

2020-05-22 15:54:23 +0000 UTCHey, Othias, I don't know if you've considered this, but have you looked into turning C&Rsenal into a 501(c)(3)? Based on my understanding of the laws around it, I think that you would qualify. You have a clear mission and desire to benefit the public good, and honestly run your show as a bit of a "virtual museum." In a lot of ways, as others in the thread have been saying, the content you're providing is replacing museums at the moment, since so many are scrambling to adjust to the virtual nature of the times. It would also 1) not change your funding structure, as I believe you'd still be able to use patreon for giving, and 2) open you up for potential grant money if you wanted to explore that route. Just a thought!

2020-05-22 15:43:53 +0000 UTCI can only imagine how Patreon would feel about me selling through them... Also the sad truth is shipping and insurance both ways + communication overhead weirdly adds up. Some will go after I get them on screen. But at least that means lots of WWII content mixed in when we leave WWI.

2020-05-22 15:35:34 +0000 UTCPop us an email and I might take you up! I've got to see what molds we can even get to be historically accurate. It will be a long work up.

2020-05-22 11:20:37 +0000 UTCI wonder if any of those WWII guns could find new homes with patrons who would presumably be happy to lend them back for show needs... Not that I have the funds for it or an immediate interest in owning historic pieces. If the former changes and the show then badly needs cash flow, I would be open to buying something to sell back at the same-ish price latter.

2020-05-22 11:18:09 +0000 UTCNEW AND IMPROVED: CYANIDE PILLS! Pills that make you not see the morning! Do you wonder what the shit the sun is doing way over in the fucking east every day? Then take cyanide pills to never see that shiny SOB ever again! (Not entirely condoned by the FDA)

2020-05-22 09:10:16 +0000 UTC@Mae - I haven't listened yet, but this has successfully appeared on the Patreon podcast feed and my podcast app (non-Apple) has automatically downloaded it to my phone for later listening. All is well on this front.

2020-05-22 08:11:48 +0000 UTCSpeaking only for myself I'm perfectly content to wait for you guys to polish your product to your satisfaction before releasing it. In re black powder cartridges, I've made a fair number of them in 12 gauge for cowboy action shooting and would be happy to make some for you. I also cast bullets and would be delighted to cast some for you if you'll specify a mold. I'm retired so time is not much of a issue for me. Good luck with the whole Cone-Of-Shame thing. Even though you know it's in their best interest the whole "I'm giving you my best reproachful look" is hard to bear up under.

2020-05-22 07:13:26 +0000 UTCI watched your primer playlist twice over since the virus thing. I didn't know that was so unusual. It's more like watching it while playing games and working, which isn't quite the same.

2020-05-22 07:11:52 +0000 UTCTake your time and keep doing what you are doing. We can all learn to virtues of being patient. When you have everything you need to produce the episode then make it so. You sound like me a prefectionist which is not always a bad thing when you like to get it right the first time no matter how frustrating it can become. It is the end product that makes it worth the wait. Thank you for putting your time, personal life, the money, and your heart into this incredible product that we have been able to enjoy. Know matter how many times i find myself rewatching it i always seem to learn more and never loose enjoyment of learning history, seeing the guns in action, or your and Mae's assessment about the gun.

2020-05-22 05:21:38 +0000 UTCOh, I wish I knew you guys needed a replica Colt Paterson I have two with one of them I had been wanting to eventually send to Mark to get some work done on it since it's an older reproduction that doesn't use any standard size parts. I'd have had no issue with expediting sending it out to be worked on and you guys borrowing after Mark had got it properly running again.
