Patchwork

I'm not sure what broken reflection of a black cat I crossed paths with but it's been one of those weeks.  No one tragic thing, but a myriad of small tasks that went from 1 hour's work to 13 or so.  I'm sure you've all had times like these though.

So what's the plan?

Well we're currently juggling three goals:

1. Growth
2. Production catch up
3. Fund Raising

At the moment as far as fund raising goes, I'd like to limit our use of campaigns.  Once a year feels right, but I've been wrong before.  For everything else there is Patreon, of course, at the core.  But I know people like having something in-hand on occasion to share their love of history.

I have ideas in all directions, but I suspect the regular appearance of limited patches might go over well. I've attached an example.

As for growth, the overall plan is to develop one or two new shows for 2020.  However, Youtube's behavior towards anything with gun fire is... well pretty hostile.  This makes it really difficult to reach new viewers while providing content in our current field.  So you might be seeing some gun-tangent videos as a means to reach a broader audience and make them curious about the core content.

I was hoping to have a preview of one such project ready but that good old bad luck got us this afternoon.  I'll try again soon.

And finally: Catching up Production!  I've always dreamed of being more than a week ahead and yet, somehow, every single time we're in by the skin.  This week is no exception as we've been plagued by production bumps and bruises.

Having Mae full time should have made this easy, but I became overconfident.  Desperate to reconnect after 4 years of long hours, I wound my schedule too far back in order to reach out to friends and family.  I also took on a number of side projects to hopefully secure new relationships and resources for the show.  Sadly only some of those worked out and, in the meantime, I'm back up against the time limit.

The new plan is to keep a low profile as much as possible and just plug away at pulling ahead by about 3 episode before we do anything extra.  This is, even as I type it, impossible though due to the first two goals of growth and fund raising.  But I can pretend!

Thank you all for the continued support in this transitional period.  If we can keep from being tipped too far over I'm expecting good things for 2020 as we pick up momentum!  More for you all to enjoy across the board.

Whistlepig patches, FTW πŸ˜‰

I have three of the E pluribus unum tees (even one of the green ones) and get people commenting on them often. I think more US-themed WWI merch will be popular. And how about tees with pocketsβ€½

Do not underestimate the marketing power of Crozier :) I loved the clip 90's art style of the project lighting patches.

Othias, please don't ever apologize for trying to keep your life outside of the channel going strong. I think I speak for the majority of us when I say that we look at you as a friend, not just an entertainer. We want you to live a happy and enjoyable life. We understand

Stencils of the faces from the Lightening project would be cool.

Tiger in man's clothing

Having additional patches on the C&Rsenal store would be cool, but... I have a friend who used to do the graphics works to turn art into embroidery and I had a couple conversations with the owner of the shop and I know how expensive patches can be per unit and the trade off with making 100 made and barely breaking even in sales out vs having 1000 at a lower cost and ending up with 900 in stock for 10 years.

Second the stencils idea. Of course, you could even do those as a "print & cut out yourself" bonus for your Patreons. Was going to point out that there's a new player competing w/ Patreon that isn't as anti-gun, but forget their name. You might want to investigate for diversification in case Patreon loses their mind again... Lastly, constructive crit on the patch displayed: Lose the "1918" & add "shoot..." before the straight. Anyone who doesn't know the battle of the Somme was during TGW isn't about to grasp the reference to your show about shotguns vs. hand grenades anyway; the patch is an inside joke for fans of your show, so anyone wearing it is going to have to be ready to some splainifyin' no matter what year is or is not displayed. ;-)

Bruce Brodnax

oooh, the stencils thing is a neat idea. I'll have to kick it around a bit.

#1: Never apologize for catching up on a neglected social life. #2: I would love patches and stickers, but beware of adding too much work to your plate. Patches and stickers DO take time to develop. #3: I'm probably in the minority on this, but I would love stencils. We just got a new connex at the range, and we need things to paint on it. C&Rsenal stuff would be cooler than anything else I thought of so far. #4:I wouldn't mind custom shirts twice a year instead of once, if it doesn't add too much work.

I assume European. German, in particular.

Christopher Dooley

I feel as if I am obligated now, African or European?

Gary Newman

A swallow. The grenade looks kinda like a coconut anyway.

Christopher Dooley

What kind of bird?

Gary Newman

We do have a paypal at prints@candrsenal.com but honestly our margins are good on the print material at candrsenal.com/shop. So you can get some goodies in the bargain.

C&Rsenal

Ok, but what about a bird with a grenade?

C&Rsenal

I'm going to take the weekend to think it through.

C&Rsenal

We'll certainly do our best

C&Rsenal

Is there a way to donate non-monthly? I'd be happy to give you some extra cash now and again when I have it

Sophie

My flight suit days are over but this patch is awesome - perhaps we can bring the little known and even less well documented TTP of the shooting down of grenades by our men in the trenches to light of day. Yet another contribution to society by the SAHS, the BIG LEGACY people

Gary Newman

Love that patch idea, definitely would buy patches like that. My Flight suit needs a new one.

Ian Kaiser

You got this man! Love the shows keep up the good work.
