Small Arms of WWI Primer 105: German MG 08/15

This was one of the first machine guns we shot for the series, but as we had yet to cover its predecessors, we were unable to release this episode... until now that is!  Hope it was worth the wait!

A while ago I asked a younger German colleague if she'd heard of "nullachtfünfzehn" being used to mean "standard", "boring" or "meh". She said it was more something her parents would say - but most interesting was that she had no idea of the derivation and was a bit shocked.

well dang.

@ 28:55 -- You missed the obvious segue into the New Wave band Spandau Ballet, with accompanying change to the background music. I'm so ashamed for you!.. ;-D

@ 13:18 -- 7/8ths in? I *think* you meant 22mm... @ 15:10 -- Oh, yeah, good point. Clearly the Boche understood metric, but we beat them so clearly the metric system is a thing of the past. Murica! BOOYAH!

Quick correction: an "Abteilung" is a section (alternatively, a detachment), not a Division. So the instruction book you reference is not for MG divisions, but for MG sections or MG detachments. Love the video!

In re the above: sleep deprivation has serious consequences. Othias is actually only 17 years old

Wayne Dygert

you can sleep when othias does.

I was about to go to sleep. Have you no decency??? Now I absolutely must watch this - there's simply no other option.
