Wednesday Review: Arts and Crafts

First and foremost: I am happy.
I thought of an idea, planned it, and executed it without much issue.
Granted it was just some leather tags for the shotguns I'm gathering (I've been having trouble keeping the intro dates in my head) but I managed to design them and get them into the laser cutter with some futzing.  No lost leather, no crazy headaches.

Meanwhile, Bruno is working on realizing a sort of tool I appear to have invented.  Might make this shotgun project easier.

It's very rare I get anything done on the first pass.  I have what is known as "Sodom's Touch."  It's like the Midas Touch but instead of gold, everything my fingers grace turns to shit.

As for the new Adpocalypse: I have no idea what the touch is going on.
Our numbers are about where they were last year, which is the first year-to-year we have not seen growth.  It could be we plateaued... but I don't think so.  However, I don't think we're being suppressed either.

Yes, Anvil rarely monetizes now and may have our channel "marked," but all of Primer is currently green-lit.  So I think this goes beyond just ads or not.  I suspect our subject matter is just... not being shared by the platform very widely.  I'm not sure how to work around it.

For the immediate moment we do have a backup channel on Bitchute, however this was experiencing extremely troublesome upload errors for the past two weeks.  I think I have the solution now (it was wigging out due to non standard characters in the description field) and will try to get it caught up in the next week.   It's slow going thanks to Bitchute's unique upload process.

Before anyone comments about it: I cannot use Full30.  We've had an upload error there for 2 years and frankly they have no interest in actually fixing the site.  There is no focus on the end user NOR the uploader.

Sandwiching on more positive news: I spoke to a friend tonight about possibly starting a short, monthly review show that has a greater emphasis on more modern firearms.  It will, however, have a truly unique twist.  Mae and I have agreed to help him test the concept.  More on that as it comes to fruition!

The only other thing of merit is that I will be heading to the Cody museum in the middle of July and stopping in on some friends at Rock Island and Brownells along the way, and perhaps the Kansas City museum and some others coming back.  I'll try my best to call out some of the pit stops along the way!

If you make in anywhere near the black hills I'll buy you both steak and beer

We'll try to catch it up. It's slow going and we can't skip or it gets out of order!

I'm glad you have a bitchute channel but I'm going to keep watching on youtube as long as its good for. At least I'm doing that for C&Rsenal. Some channels I watch as many videos on bitchute as I do on YT but frankly the video quality is still so much superior on YT for a channel like yours its just always going to be a better experience seeing vidoes there rather than BC. too bad the growth isn't happening but I suspect your next biggest market Europe isn't going to want their slave class to watch gun videos of any kind.

You know, I've never met our friend Joel out there face to face yet.

C&Rsenal

...go on....

C&Rsenal

Sadly I do not think the shared space would appreciate mass production!

How do I email you?

We will be in St. Louis for sure. I'm going to try to get a schedule made this week that I can reveal for fan meets.

C&Rsenal

They are honestly not putting the community nor the creators first. I suspect it exists to be a magnet for capital during unrest.

C&Rsenal

These are all pre-1918

My apologies but it's a one-off test for our new tags. I wish I owned the equipment to make them full time.

C&Rsenal

I have no idea where I picked it up, but it's apt.

Let us know about Rock Island. Love going out there, and we'll definitely come out to show support.

If your route out west goes through northwest IA, you can visit the world's ice cream capitol, and also their awesome steakhouse.

The effect of YT's "recommended also try watching" algorithm being preferentially slanted away [due to non-ad-bearing media or whatevs] from content is the same as being suppressed in the long run. Even my ultra-liberal friend is sensitive to the power Alphabet Corp has attained & has suggested that perhaps it is time they are "forcibly divested" a la' the break up of Ma Bell in the '80s. Recognizing the power YT has to undermine freedom of the press [given that "the press" has essentially transformed to online media by default] by virtue of their monopoly power on distribution means that they need 1] unbiased algorithms & 2] protection from nuisance suits from the political extremes [which the far left has shown an especial proclivity for using as a method of attack] so they have no reason to force bias into the algorithms.

"However, I don't think we're being suppressed either. " I've been hearing about a lot of channels suffering the effects of their videos not being recommended on the sidebars/at the end of other videos, they still appear on the homepage but not here and it's hindering growth. You have the full facts of course, but I've heard about this happening in a lot of places, journalists like Tim Pool, history content, and it wouldn't surprise me one bit for it to happen to a gun channel.

Those leather tags Bruno's working on look great. Could be a cool option for another fundraiser since they could be keychains/bookmarks/ID tags etc.

Chris Stochaj

If you are headed to Kansas City, maybe you can make a stop in St. Louis on the way back home.

Yeah, too bad about Full30. I had great hopes for them early on, but their sysadmins seem to be in high school.

Regarding sharing, I personally rarely (if ever) share anything (on facebook or otherwise). Mainly because I don't like being spammed myself. I mean, more people like watching Pewdiepoop or whatever, so if we all shared then the chances are we'd just get bombarded with crapola. So my thought would be more collaborations and so forth. That's how I found most of my patreon-supported channels, via different creators working with each other. So maybe that would be a way to share yourselves more?

Gavin Rea-Davies

Any one else notice that the short hyperlink ends with 'Pew'? How apt!

Gavin Rea-Davies

Shotgun monopoly? The last square would be something like H&H, while the first square could be something like a Cobray Terminator!

Gavin Rea-Davies

I'd get that "weird board game" for my grandson in a heartbeat. If only. .. .

Anders Weidik Bendsen

Thanks for the "Sodom's Touch" comment. At last I have an appropriately sardonic label for the Wile E Coyote flavored syndrome accompanying my projects. B T W. Love the laser cutter. What a fun widget

Wayne Dygert

They make an exception to their no-shoot policy, or are you doing a non-shooting project?
