Wednesday Review: Back Pain

Time for another friendly update!

This week has been less interesting for story time because, well it's been a slog of normal work.

1. Lots of little things shook out of the Chauchat scripts after the fact.  Requiring long hours of fixes, extra assets, and secondary recordings.  It's been a mess.  But hopefully it won't show!

2. I'm stuck on promo stuff.  We have the 100th episode coming and I'd like to release a print I've been sitting on, made by Georges.  But I also have a sweeet Project Lightening poster I'm hopefully tossing up within 24 hours one way or the other of this post.   I could stall but, frankly, we're idling down on cash due to some lucky snags that drained the reserves.

edit: Nuts I released it:  https://candrsenal.com/product/project-lightening-movie-poster/

3. My back hurts.  That's because I sat down with 8 books at roughly 5pm in a hurry to catch up my schedule of research and writing for the next episodes.  It's 3:30am as I write this and I just got up.  Hunching over each book while banging away at a laptop just never ends up comfortable.

This bit of research also, weirdly, led me down a fairly original path through an event that seems to have enjoyed very little attention in US history.  I'll be happy to share it all with you in two months when this episode releases.

Actually I lied.  I got up 20 minutes ago and went to re-shelve the books and the shelf collapsed.  So I had to get the drill out and add more studs so I could continue.

4. Why the lead time?  Well we have a friends and family event I've wanted to do for years that's eating up my time, plus a guest from Australia showing up (anyone remember our official comment troll?).  I've rebuilt the front banister, cleared out the garage, pulled all the scrap to the dump, and generally cleaned up various deep pockets of disorder.

Also I am hoping to visit Cody this summer.  In order to do that, though, I'll need to get well ahead of production.  Because every time I take 3 days off its a nightmare.  When I take a week all heck breaks loose for several months in both directions.

5.  Our friend and fan in the northeast pulled it off and two more weird and wonderful Union Fire Arms shotguns have shown up.  Both "model 24" and with obvious differences.  Such an interesting mess to sort out.

All right, I'm going to dig back into scripting work for the night.  Let me know how you all are doing this week!

The problem isn't with *carrying* your wallet in your hip pocket, it's *sitting* on it for any extended period. Chiropractor warned me about that years ago, but I still do it. At least I'm aware enough to pull it out when I know I'll be sitting for awhile [like driving, at work, etc.] tho'...

Bruce Brodnax

I keep mine up front for fear of that

C&Rsenal

Solved a lot of lower back and hip pain when a osteopath told me to stop carrying my wallet in my back pocket.

John R. Dorn

Not that, but also interesting.

C&Rsenal

Sorry to hear about the back pain. Don't take warning signs lightly. Ten years ago I said "it doesn't happen very often" as well. That turned out to be a mistake. Intrigued by your comment about the little known event in US history. I'm going "Battle of Blair mountain."

John S Wren

I believe Cody has an overall event that week. But as we get closer and know more I will likely arrange another fan meet.

C&Rsenal

There are certainly some more in the pipe. Trying to clear all these borrowed MGs

C&Rsenal

This is a very rare occurence for me

C&Rsenal

Trust me, we are no where near the worst it has been. This is me squeezing to get ahead instead of full tilt to keep up

C&Rsenal

Hey, how cool would it be if you did a fan meet up at Cody? Only thing cooler than a trip to Cody, would be a visit with Othias at the Cody Museum. I would definitely make the trip, and be willing to donate to the C&Rsenal cause. Guided tour? something along those lines. Also, keep it up. Love all that you do for the life.

OMG the poster. BTW Othais, I feel like I've been going through some withdrawal recently. It's been so long since we had a .32 pocket pistol episode. The FN 1910 was all the way back in 2017. I'm sure there must be some German or Belgian or Spanish mousegun still waiting patiently for its day in the sun. Eagerly awaiting the ".32's of the Great War" poster as well ;)

Christopher Dooley

Had back pain for a long time. Finally fixed it by addressing my poor sitting posture. Just doing that has worked WONDERS. Don't hunch over and try to keep your back erect.

+1 on the turmeric, try to get the capsules that are a turmeric/white-pepper mix (any kind of pepper helps the turmeric get absorbed easier by your body, white pepper is the mildest pepper option) I found mine at Walmart of all places in the vitamin issle. The stuff works especially if taken a capsule or two with every meal so that it builds up in your body and is always there.

Try turmeric for your back pain if it comes back. You know that orange spice everyone has and nobody uses. Take it as a spoonful, or in capsules from the store. I have an auto-immune disease and pain management is my life. This $hit works. That said, only go as fast as you can go. We love your program. It will be there tomorrow, if we don't see it today. I believe many of your fans share that sentiment. From the get-go your posts have evolved beautifully to provide a concise, connected, yet thorough outline of weaponry from a pivotal period of modern history.

Cobra Commander

The thing I really appreciate about C&Rsenal is the consistent quality of your content. The thing I fear is that it's at the cost of you burning out, brother. Just... slow down if you need to.

Minion

It isn't a common problem. I likely just didn't take enough of a break. Thanks for that support and the patch sounds neat!

C&Rsenal

I'm sorry about your week, but you're right, a short one does a lot to bring it around!

C&Rsenal

I'm really happy to hear you're enjoying it and finding a value in the product. I wouldn't trade 20,000 viewers of real history for 2,000,000 watching me pull "pranks."

C&Rsenal

It's a possiblity

C&Rsenal

Back pain is actually quite rare for me. I think it was mostly because I did not take adequate breaks

C&Rsenal

Have you thought about getting one of them adjustable stand up desks I seen on TV? May have to do stretches before sitting down and after like I do for my back. I am sure few of us patreons who served in military know about backpain, especially from body armor. I bought my first WW1 aviation related item this week. A patch from the 6th Aviation Instruction Center, based in Pau, France. One of 8 centers to train AEF pilots on French and British planes used at the front. Also just bought one the Project Lightening posters. I do like the weekly updates.

Weeks been shite, but by "normal people standard". Luckily, Friday is a bank holiday. All's well that ends well. Looking forward to everthing and anything from you. Careful with that back of yours. Bad place to hurt.

Your hard work and dedication are inspirational. A lesser significant other (we know of whom I speak) would've bounced long ago. I've received more WWI education from this series than my previous 60+ years of life. I'm not much of a social media guy and pay little to no attention to "popular media". I truly look forward to anything you post. Keep up the fight (I'm sure it's a bit of love/hate) and I look forward to more quality content. Thank you all.

Michael Spratt

Stop by and say hi on your way to Cody.

Take care of your back, it can ruin your life. I went from a promising college athlete in great shape to a gimp after lifting one thing wrong. Now I'm 38 and have had two back surgeries, had two vertebrae fused with metal hardware and a disc removed Last August. Hoping to return to work in Sept, been on disability since Dec 2017. Thankfully my job has a great disability policy.... Listen to your body and take care of that spine, it's no fun not being able to work or do the things you love. I saw TOOL in KC last night and was absolutely miserable w/ pain the whole time even sitting down. Concert was awesome though. Find a way to do your research and typing in an ergonomic position even if you have to buy a special desk/chair/book holder or whatever makes it easier. I always cringe when I see Ian and Karl doing those shooting stages where they have to lift kettle bells and stuff fast and under stress, just a recipe for a blown disc so I'm always leaving "safety sally" type comments trying to warn em...its just not worth it. Hope you feel better, thanks for all your hard work!

Ian Rupert
