It's in our best interest...

And really, when you get right down to it, when it comes to service bolt-action rifles, there's Mausers and then there's the also-rans... Think about how many former enemies switched to Mausers or Mauser-derived actions after WW1? The U.S. beat them to the punch with the 1903 Springfield, which was still our front-line rifle at the start of WW2, despite having adopted the Garand 5 years before we joined in that conflict. I'm glad to have all the deets on the various combatants' variants, so lay on, MacDu^H^H^H, er, Othais! :-)
