"Lightning" is that electrical discharge in the sky that is responsible for thunder. Unless you mean to refer to the fact that the guns are lighter after firing a bunch of rounds, I suspect you mean "lightning". (BTW, I have the same quibble over the confusion between "damping" and "dampening".)
