Take 2

I know it seemed minor but I guarantee the swapped vickers and maxim names would have been 98% of all comments for the next 10  years.  Better to just be correct.

Hi, I’m looking forward to the aviation segment. And I’m hoping that you don’t repeat the myth that Fokker invented the synchronization gear. In fact, there was one installed on Roland Garros’ Morane when he was forced down. The gear failed a test due to faulty ammunition and fell into German hands intact. Sadly it is all in the margins of other stories like the Vickers. No one seems to set out to write a book of failures.

Hi Othias, Do you have any references on the Colt's mismanagement during the war? I have not read any indication of Colt's action from my reference such as W.H.B Smith's Small Arms of the World or Edward Ezell's Handguns of the World. Thanks,

Yeah, the "aviation bit" would make a GREAT episode (or series of episodes)!

So stop complaining and have pity on people who hate what they HAVE to do!

Othias and Mae: You guys love what you're doing or you wouldn't DO it!

Yeah. . .casualties. To give some idea: I just pulled down my copy of McBride's A Rifleman Went to War, the dedication of which is to the original members of the Canadian 21st Battallion's machine gun section. By memory, he lists 52 names, of which ALL were wounded and 22 were killed. You've doubtless read that one Othias; you should also track down his Emma Gees, which he wrote while the war was still in progress. Great stuff on the tools of the trade.

Just gotta fix them

Mae’s face starting at 22:03. So serious but that didn’t last long. Bawhahahaha

Lol ... I noticed that error, and had it not been so late and my laptop turned off I would've sent you a message. ;) But I know sooner or later you'd be informed and correct it. =) A great episode, keep it up!

"Spock's goatee" -- Woohoo! Nice "Mirror, mirror" reference! Way to go Othais! ST:tos rules! X-D

At ~ 26:00 minute mark, your MG totals for the various powers at the start of the war showing how far behind the U.K. was doesn't have the U.S. numbers for comparison [as it arguably should not, as we didn't enter the war for some years yet to come] but in the interest of full disclosure, it's perhaps helpful to note that U.S. totals were another order of magnitude behind; I forget the exact total, but it was something on the order of 340 or so [with a little over 100 of that number being the Benet-Mercie' machine rifle, which technically didn't even qualify as an LMG.] Is it any wonder now why the U.S. had to accept Chauchats from the Frogs once we *did* go "over there?" [PS: J'aime beaucoups les jambes des grenouilles: goûts comme le poulet! ;-) ]

For those who don't grok "CDO," it's OCD [obsessive compulsive disorder] but in the *correct* alphabetical order, AS IT MUST BE [for those who truly have the compulsion! ;-D ]

Bruce Brodnax

Was bugging your cdo I take it? No worries, we've all been there. :D

Hey, it’s like the charging handle, people who couldn’t figure out it’s just the other way around are ‘special’ 🤪

Hah! I'm sure you're right about the comments. Glad you nailed it in time. Hope you have some quieter time now for the next day or two.

You deserve an oops every once in a while.

RJ Ruble

I assure you. I've had 7 hours of sleep in the last 4 days. I think it's been about two years since we had an episode that just avoided getting done like this one from one emergency or another.

C&Rsenal

I admire your dedication, but get some sleep, Othais.
