Journal: Biting off.
Added 2016-04-07 06:51:26 +0000 UTCSo, just a quick journal update.
The combination of planning the trip to Kentucky and the preparation for the T-gewehr was... difficult on my schedule. Once it was over I took about an afternoon off and got back to work.
I quickly realized we didn't have time for a full range day before the next episode, so I'd have to work with existing footage. No big... oh wait the only prepped shooting footage that has high speed is the Luger.
Because of our trip next week, we have to prep two episodes... so it's Luger and then lP.08. Perfect! A double on one research run.
Well at least the material is in English... just 2,000 pages of technical data... two days max? Welp, time for writers/researchers block. I burned 80 hours... when it should have been 20 max. I was literally at Waffle House from 2am until 6am last night because it's hard to fall asleep there. I sat up with my laptop translating raw notes into a usable episode. I remind you, this is due... Tuesday.
So once the script is done I realize we're missing key outdoor footage, so now we're scrambling to schedule range time on Sunday... with little response from our hosts.
We knocked out indoor filming but the exhaustion isn't helping the mental block so lots of bad takes and slow going, burn 5 hours filming and keep poor Mae and Suzie up late.
I'm sorting the material now to confirm the episode flows and I'll spend more time tonight setting up images and line drawings. But I still have 15-20 hours of animation to do... so there is my weekend. Which is also hiding Mae's birthday so I MUST take a full day to show her how much I care and not pour more C&Rsenal on the poor thing.
So I'll probably wrap up at 4 am Tuesday, launch it and fall asleep until... well until I have to get into a car for a 13 hour drive to Springfield Arsenal... which I'll then have to go straight from car to lightbox.
But the curator isn't available the next morning so I can sleep late then. Hurray!

I wish you good luck. The work continues to be excellent. Rest a wee bit though before you all get sick from exhaustion.
