Just a quick status update: We're extremely happy to be sitting over $300 per month on Patreon. This is coming closer and closer to covering our production costs. Just to explain them further, we are buying ammo straight when possible but have already had to buy several dies + accessories to load obsolete cartridges we could not buy in small batch. Every week we are making the drive to our private range (thanks again Shoot Logic!) which makes for a combined trip of nearly 3hrs. We also feed the volunteer crew lunch and dinner because we film for roughly 6 hours on top of driving. They gotta get SOMETHING for their efforts. So you figure our minimum operating costs for one month are roughly: Common Ammo Obscure ammo/reloading supplies 2 meals once a week for ~4 people, 4 weeks = ~16 meals 3x4 = 12 hours driving worth of gas Plus some bottled water, paper towels, blah blah blah. All of this assumes 100% free labor by all of our volunteers and myself! So $500 is a very tight budget. We may honestly still dip into the red from month to month but at $500 I think we can carry the show. Why didn't anyone tell us guns were expensive? So if we meet the $500, what is next? Well we need some incidental cash to cover shipping fees for borrowing pieces to shoot. That's first. Second, we'd like to upgrade the equipment when possible. Improved mics is first, then lighting, then we'd like to start saving up for a professional high speed camera. Third, and I'm being honest here, we'd like to pocket a little bit. The show will always come first but if it ever goes fully profitable I hope it's not too much to ask for a little scratch. For one episode I put in about 15 hours of animation, 4 hours filming, 1 hour driving, 2 hours image editing, 4 hours video editing, and probably 4 more hours planning when it is divided out. This does not include social media, answering questions, collaborations, etc... It also doesn't include Jay's time reloading or servicing guns, Mae's time being baked like a potato in the sun, or any of our various volunteers who put in their time helping out. Now all of that whining was unnecessary because you lot are already patrons of the show! We literally can't do it without you. Pat yourselves on the back and feel super cool for being and active part of documenting small arms history!
