TUTORIAL: Yellow Power Armour (& much more!)

Welcome to this week's tutorial!

We're carrying on with our Power Armour series this week, landing on Yellow with the latest tutorial. However, you can expect to learn much more in this tutorial than a yellow colour recipe, as we touch on battle damage & face painting alongside the armour itself on this particular model.

Remember, if you have any questions use the comments section below or you can reach us on our Discord which you all have access to.

To download the PDF, click the file link below this article.

And as always - lastly and most importantly... happy painting and make share your results with us!

Gloss varnish can help with pin shading for sure as it helps the paint move smoothly along the recesses. Ed, Siege Team

Would you recommend gloss varnish for pin lineing stage ??

thank you, but I signed up on purpose to know the specific armor coloring on YouTube in the links shown. if you cannot disclose it, I would like to be able to contact the customer who commissioned those models. so ask him personally. I was interested in that color, in particular: (... anyway I think it's absurd that you can't tell me the 3/4 colors you used for the armor .. I paid on purpose to know. When on youtube I commented asking for the colors of those models I was advised to subscribe to the patreons, so I thought that this would get an answer ... I'm disappointed

Hi Jack, This is the Imperial Fists tutorial we recommended. While we don't disclose the details of our client model's this tutorial gives you a good foundation for painting yellow armour. If you aren't keen to try the Vallejo Gold Yellow then Army Painter Daemonic Yellow gives a crisp yellow finish, or you could try a 50:50 mix of GW Averland Sunset and Yriel Yellow which gives good coverage on a nice saturated yellow.

Thanks for the reply. when I commented below youtube video i was advised to subscribe to patreon. Here, however, I have not found anything about this color scheme. I would like to have more informations on that yellow armors and the difference between the two. thanks. video 1: https://youtu.be/zJWXJb7_zKk video 2: https://youtu.be/jZrfawryYyw (sorry for my english)

Hi Jack, Just to check are you unable to download the PDF attached to this post? Ed, Siege Team

Hi I just signed up hoping to find the imperial fist tutorial I saw on youtube "primaris imperial fist intercessors infantry". Can I have some informations about it? thank you so much

Hi Richard, It depends on how many layers of yellow you want to use for your basecoat, if you keep all your paints thin and smooth, you could choose to not put as many layers on and allow the base coat colour to influence the tone of the yellow over the top. In this case Wraithbone would look a little brighter and warmer than basing with black. If you put enough thin layers on you can reach the same tone of yellow no matter on the primer as you have built it up to the point where you are only seeing the yellow pigment. Ed, Siege Team

What would priming the model with a wraith bone instead of the black do to the yellow?
