Is that coming from their somatic sense of their bodies? “I’m acutely aware of wearing this helmet so it’s part of my psionic self image”. Or alternatively, Jardin’s mind could be like “Well I know or remember they’re wearing hardsuits, so I’m updating my mental imagery to reflect that.” Least likely given they’re a psionic species is he’s really just dreaming/hallucinating it.

2021-07-19 07:34:54 +0000 UTCHmm, another question is if they are beginning to sense him, or if his human protection adds some “firewall” one-way stealthy detection. Either way it’s probably only a matter of time before he gives himself away by turning to face one coming up behind him or knowing where a Loroi is going while a wall (oops, this is a ship, “bulkhead”) is in between them. It also highlights how horrifying it would be for the Loroi who presumably always sense each other even better than this, if one starts running, then fighting, then twitches as if being cut to pieces by a death cyborg and then disappears. #ThatGotGrimdarkFast That’s yet another way Jardin could give himself away, if he flinches or is even obviously sad right as a Loroi is killed, even though she is in another part of the ship. Even with some OPSEC training and the Librarian warning, I wouldn’t expect him to be able to poker face his way through the new experience of feeling one of his companions being killed.
