2020-10-12 10:31:28 +0000 UTCWhat we're looking at are Umiak "hardtroopers"; they're "full-replacement" cyborgs, with mechanical bodies and only the most irreplacable organic bits left -- the brain, nervous system and other organs. Some are thin and some are stout. As with Umiak vessels, there's a lot of variety.

Or it is just the rule of cool.

The sword I guess is useful for it's pure terror value thou. The shield could be useful against projectal weapons something an occupation force may find useful against hostile crowds but riot shields tend to be as large as a Roman scutum and often have a similar form. I guess that isn't needed with computer aided shield positioning.
