Outsider page 189
Added 2020-09-01 05:37:24 +0000 UTCA few weeks ago, we had an intense lightning storm, which is very rare here in Northern California. This touched off a series of wildfires, which have blanketed our sky in a smoky haze, darkening the sky even at noon, and filling the nostrils with the scent of burning.
A bit surreal, considered the subject matter I've been working on.
I'm still working on the "special" bubbles. I like this shape a lot better, but I think the gradient fill might be a bridge too far.

2020-09-03 04:20:15 +0000 UTCWe had some smoke from wildfires last year (or maybe the year before), and there was the smell of smoke visible haze at ground level, but it didn't blot out the sun the way it did last week. 'Twas like the Pellenor Fields under the shadow of Mordor. :D

I like how the pictures' layout is changing compared to the previous pages, from square/right angle to irregular shapes, adding instability and uneasiness to the narration. We are now completely on unstable ground, on the verge of collapsing into insanity.

2020-09-01 18:51:49 +0000 UTCI take it that the 'mounds of burned corpses' are the greatest time sinks right now; would it help, instead of making them 'perfect' to make them 'dreamy'. Some dreams are highly detailed but others may lack in details as long as you don't focus on them. Since this is Alex's POV shouldn't the details emerge when he is focusing on something? I would make the details come out when Alex finally gets it instead of from the very beginning.

2020-09-01 10:40:06 +0000 UTCI live in the central coast of California, and had to drive my wife north three and a half hours for a medical checkup during the worst of the fires. It was a smoke covered apocalypse when we left home and across the entire 230 mile trip. You're not kidding about darkening the sun, there were a couple of days when I couldn't even tell where the sun was in the sky. Oh, also the new speech bubbles are really excellent. I hope you use something like these for any telepathic communication from here on. I'm looking forward to finding out who it is at the end crouching down, and if one of them is Fireblade. I knew things were rough under the Umiak from some of your descriptions, but this is really stark.
