Theory: by the end of 2026, Fable will be on Xbox’s Mount Rushmore and it will replace either Halo or Gears. Halo is my most played franchise by a long shot, but unfortunately I fear it will take Halo’s place. Halo Studios needs to produce either a stellar (and fully cross-play) multiplayer arm for Campaign Evolved, OR a new creation that evolves or succeeds Halo Infinite.

I do this, but I wait even then, for a sale. Less money to Xbox. Free Palestine 🇵🇸

I’m incredibly excited for Fable (Fable 2 was the first game I ever preordered and Fable 2 Pub Games is severely underrated), even if it doesn’t quite look like past Fable games (which is fine because the style of previous games feels very dated now with the bloom and the silly proportions), but I need to see a more extended gameplay section. I feel like everything we’ve seen so far has been very short glimpses and explanations of gameplay. Show me, don’t tell me.

Let's go with a "positive" hot take : to me, Playground is going to be for Xbox what Guerilla Games is for Sony. We were all skeptical about Guerilla's change from shooter to 3D adventure, and they proved us wrong. I'm sure Playground will do the same.

Fable looks like the game I’ve was wished the Witcher 3 was.

As someone who was really into Xbox in the 360 era but have basically been disappointed by them since: this was probably the best showcase they have done. All the games really spoke to me and I liked how they presented them with a focus on the humans behind the games. It will not get me to buy a modern Xbox but I really look forward to playing this on my Ps5 and PC. If this is a glimpse of a future where Microsoft is a third party developer I am all for it.

Anyone interested in the games shown today should buy them directly rather than subscribe to game pass amid the ongoing boycott of game pass as part of the BDS movement. I know it's not very specific to this showcase but they keep shoving gamepass in front of their audience.

My hot take: i think the character creator in Fable was due to the backlash of the main character. If there was from the beginning, playground would have said something after the dude bros got angry about the main character being an "ugly" woman. I would have rather playground stuck to their guns and let me customize the hero they announced.

Xbox is consistently swimming in 7's and I think people give their showcases too much benefit of the doubt. Every Xbox showcase is a 9/10 until we get the games and are inevitably left disappointed.

I don't know how hot this is, but Fable's morality game genuinely seems revolutionary. I'm not sure if that system was in the older games, but that feels like the next step for most big rpgs instead of a "basic" morality system, ala KCD2 and RDR2.

My hot take is the Xbox Developers Directs have been produced way better than the Xbox Games Showcases. What a style, and good mix of cinematic, gameplay and conversations with the developers.
