I need your opinion

Hey everyone!

I regularly get contacted by random companies about sponsoring videos, and I always ignore them for 3 reasons.

1. I can't be bothered to put in the effort to negotiate something with them.
2. They offer terrible compensation
3. They don't fit in with my content at all.

But, I recently have been contacted by a genealogy website about sponsoring one video in February. It hasn't been confirmed yet, but they may be offering me something equivalent to what I make in a (good) month on YouTube.

But before I proceed, I want your feedback. I don't want to do anything that will cheapen my content or upset subscribers, in particular, you guys.

If I proceed, all mid-video ads will be turned off for that video and possibly all monetization. But I wanted to know what all of you think of this.

Would this upset you? Disturb your viewing experience? Please let me know your thoughts.

Do animals that will be gone in 2025

One of my sisters brought this up too. I thought no one would care, as long as there were no mid-roll ads. But I didn't factor in all the people who have premium who saw no ads normally, but now will be forced to watch one. Hopefully people understand.

Haha. I'm not quite that desperate...yet.

Robbie Murdoch

Take it you deserve it

Johanna

Do it. Otherwise you'll end up on onlyfans to pay your bills.

Please please please take the sponsor as long as you agree with them and actually stand behind the sponsorship and would use the product yourself. You are a person that puts in so much work and you deserve to get some paid money from sponsors. Also leave the video monetized! No need to turn off ads just because you have a small sponsor. Remember, viewers can (and will) skip sponsors, we are all used to ads on YouTube videos, it's part of the platform, very few people if any will mind if a video has both. Please earn money for your hard work, you deserve it, you are awesome, and you deserve more than you are making now.

I don't mind about sponsored video as far is not scam 😊, do it if you feel comfortable with the company and if can be fit in a natural o even better a integrated way with the video and the content... I usually don't skip the ads if are funny or suitable for the content, and we will keep supporting you! 💪🏽💪🏽

I think you should feel comfortable with the sponsor, do research into them if you want and see what they are about. I already pay for YouTube premium because I almost exclusively watch YouTube. Lots of creators take sponsorships because YouTube doesn’t pay the bills, make that money!

Cody Michael

Sounds like you're already ahead of the game, well done.

Shoesins

Well don't worry about that. I don't even know how that sponsoring would fit in with my content at all. So far I've avoided Manta Sleeping Masks, Nord VPN, and a fishing app, among others.

Robbie Murdoch

Oh, and for the love of everything holy stay far, *far* away from BetterHelp.

Shoesins

That’s sounds great.

Ben Williams

I don't mind sponsored videos per se, and I think by and large most viewers don't. What people *do* mind is a sponsor that is tacky/tasteless (the various mobile games) or scammy (the 'buy a piece of Scotland and become a lord!' kind.) If you've done your due diligence and it's a respectable company that you can be sure will treat your viewers right, go for it.

Shoesins

They are asking for 90 to 120 seconds, and it will be placed at the beginning of the video, so you can easily skip past it before getting into the content

Robbie Murdoch

I don't mind at all, as long as the ad isn't obnoxiously long or disruptive from the rest of the video.

Angie F

Also, I just recently watched your video on hybrids. I didn’t know about the Zebra hybrids, but I thought the video was great.

Ben Williams

It's MyHeritage, which happens to be a website I've used before for my own family genealogy.

Robbie Murdoch

Hey. If they are legit, and not bogus, then I don’t mind them potentially sponsoring one of your videos.
