Let’s Have a Zoom Real Chat

Ello! As this tasty retro journey has grown, so has my sense of appreciation for the incredible people who support it. That's you BTW. Lately, I’ve been reflecting on what matters in life – and one thing that I keep coming back to is connection. Not just making "output" of videos, where you feel like you know me, but the same can't often be said in reverse.

Creating videos is amazing, but some parts (hello, endless editing) can be a grind. It's been refreshing to have had a break and really "miss it". But more than that, what lifts it all is knowing there are folks like you behind it. That’s something I never want to take for granted – and over the years, after what was initially a little bit stressful ("creator burnout" and the pressure to release a video almost every week for 7 years), I’ve found myself wanting to “live in” what I do more fully. Not just make content, but share the experience. Beyond typed messages. Beyond comment replies.

So I’m testing out an idea: monthly one-on-one Zoom chats (around 20–30 mins or more if time allows) where you and I can chat one2one about retro tech, YouTube growth (for those with their own channel seeking mentorship), creative ideas, behind-the-scenes bits, or just shoot the breeze. Something real and relaxed. Who knows, Mrs Perifractic or even Baby F might pop their heads in too if they're passing.

There may also be times where I share top secret work-in-progress or plans that aren’t public yet. If you’d like those chats to include that kind of sneak peek, I may ask you to sign a simple NDA – nothing scary, just a standard way to keep creative things safe while still letting you in on them. Totally optional, of course.

The only way to keep this new idea manageable and meaningful is to offer it exclusively to one Patreon tier. I wish I could offer this to everyone, but time (and a toddler) makes that tricky, and I hope you understand the need to confine it, for now at least, and then see if there's room to grow it wider still. Baby steps (there's Babyfractic again!).
