I'M BACK!

Hey there guys, I know some of you have really struggled without a biweekly update from the dusty forges of my laptop - truly, it must have been a harrowing experience - but fear not, for I have returned!

For those of you who joined in the meantime, apologies for the delays in sending out email invites, but you should now have emails inviting you to redeem your files. Also, a huge thank you for everyone who took the time to fill in the survey in the last post, I really appreciate the input!

I'd like to say that in the meantime I've been super busy working away, but in truth, I simply didn't get much time to actually do anything except write scraps of The Promised Land lore and re-envisage aspects of the gameplay, including reformatting the datacards to fit more information in the same space, and make it easier to read and use. This includes the consolidation of keywords into a more sensible format:
<Faction> <Unit Type> (<Battlefield Role>, <Unit Subtype>, <Subfaction>, <Faction-Specific Keywords>)

This also means that I can introduce new, clearer unit types and battlefield roles that distinguish how things work, so every unit will be either a Character, Squad, or Heavy, and within that, they can easily be defined by their role:

Character (Leader) - Character models that act individually and lead your whole army
Character (Attaché) - Character models that attach to Squad units to grant them additional bonuses or abilities.
Character (Operative) - Character models, such as Operatives, that act independently and neither confer nor receive any bonuses or abilities from other units, or the army.

Squad (Warriors) - A standard squad.
Squad (Support) - An elite or specialised squad that is available to players in more limited numbers.

Heavy (Monstrous) - A unit of one or more large monsters.
Heavy (Construct) - A unit of one or more large bipedal or multi-legged vehicles.
Heavy (Vehicle) - A unit of one or more vehicles, such as tanks or aircraft.
Heavy (Leviathan) - A unique gargantuan monster or vehicle.

In addition, other changes include the removal of the Combat Skill characteristics, and reducing them to simply reflect Attack and Injury rolls on each weapon, which is now included on each unit's wargear section. This also means that rules that previously modified how units attacked with weapons, such as Cumbersome, can be removed, as their characteristics will be specific to each unit.

Also, each unit's rules are divided into Common Rules (which can be found in the core rulebook), Faction Rules (which can be found in each unit's respective faction Appendix) and Bespoke Rules (which are rules unique to this unit).

Hopefully, this will make things in future a little smoother, with fewer specific rules and more flexibility. Tomorrow you'll all be able to get hold of March's supports too, and in the coming days, more previews of May's release will appear too!

I'M BACK!
