Theme for March (Poll Results)

After two polls and very close results we have a theme for March. For first time this month we saw so close competition between themes. For the patrons who can't vote for theme, I want to mention that there was a ballotage between Soap Making re-make and Jewelry Stand.
With only 1 vote difference the wining theme for March is Soap Making re-make!
What a re-make means?
I will be re-doing the mod completely. This month I already started working on concepts of new stations (I will add two versions one for medieval/historical times and one more generic, you can see them on the screenshots above).
There will be added three more craftables - face masks, lip balms and shampoos.
It will be re-branded under the name of Cosmetics Crafting Station (I think more generic name would be better, since there are a lot of different activities that can be done on it).
I also learned which code is responsible for the woodworking animation, so the stages of crafting and animation will be custom and more appropriate for the activity.
So, this is for now from me. Btw for the historic players, the station I create is based on my imagination how would be looking (I added fire place, since I imagined this will be their way of warming up the surface to melt the soap base, and made the material of the table from stone to endure the heat), but if you have any historically accurate images or knowledge what would be more appropriate feel free to share it with me, so I can edit the station accordingly.

Alright, thank you for the extensive feedback. This is very peculiar issue, I'll be playtesting to see if I can experience this and what might be causing it.

I have 6 flavors on the shelf: the original barrel, cherry, baked apple cyser, strawberry & black berry. Some will stay as a barrel and sell. Then, so some will turn into a pile of dust. I don't have any mods related to the woodwork table. I don't have soaps in my store yet, but I have had them in my game in the past. I'll post when I experience it

I clonebase from the woodworking table for the durability, so if the quality is poor it will be pile of dust. If that's not the case, did you observe how long after the creation of the item this happen? Also do you have any mods related to modifying woodwork craftables? Did you observe this thing to happen also to woodworking craftables like the horse statue? And which craftables exactly turn into piles? Only the soaps? Or also the bath bombs and the bath salts? And which mead? The barrel, bottles or the cups with drink?

I usually explain my projects in simple way because English is not my first language and I need help with it, so I had no idea for the correct words, like you said 'saponification'. However, when it comes to the video game, it will be hard to implement the process step by step like in real life, so it will still be quite generic. But I thought that animation which is more close to stiring pot, would be more apropriate than the woodworking animation (by melting down I meant it will be liquid the object in the state of the animation). I'm sorry for the confusion.

2022-02-23 19:36:29 +0000 UTCWhen you say melting down a soap base, that brings to mind melt-n-pour soaps which are pre-made soap essentially. Which is all well and good for a casual DIY project, but actual soap making has a lot more to do with chemical reactions and something called saponification. The most common modern one is called Cold Process Soap, and this is where oils/fats and fragrance oils plus and other materials for a recipe are warmed up and a lye water solution is added and then mixed until something called a "Trace" develops in the soap batter. A good youtube channel to look at for Cold Process Soapmaking is Royalty Soaps! for actual medieval soaps, you'd be looking at a mixture made from woodash and animal fat/tallow, though there have of course been variances over the years depending on what certain cultures have available to them and what plants they may have, or if water was a resource they lacked.
