had to deal with the same situation, best option is to tell them straight that youre not interested or you dont want to spend time with them cuz i tried the other way where you just act mean with them to make them not like you so you dont hurt them, the end result is u acting petty and they will only leave after a century (also seen in toxic relationships, where the person stays even tho theyre being abused, just to a whole lower degree). it feels fucking uncomfortable, but at least you get them to leave you alone instead of spending months acting mean and making you feel like shit.
