Can you guess who she is?
And sorry it's going to be a 3-weeker! We have Christopher Paolini's THE BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE dropping next week on Kickstarter, and it's been... a juggle haha.
Chapter 39 coming next week.
*********
If Rei had thought Lennon had arrived in a blink, it was nothing compared to the Iron Bishop. Dent tore by him and Aria with such force that the passing blast of air almost made them both take a step sideways to keep their balance. There was a “Hurk!” as she reached Sidorov—the faintest blur of a shadow and white in the far-off glow of the city—and the Lancer was ripped off his feet, vanishing before their eyes. He reappeared only after his back hit the trunk of the closest tree with a wince-inducing CRUNCH, slammed into it by his faceplate, which had partially collapsed.
The captain’s armored fingers were bending the metal in as she held his entire body several feet off the ground by his head.
“Recall, Cadet.” The woman snarled, shoving him a few inches higher up the tree for emphasis, steel scraping angrily against bark. “Recall, or I will start peeling you out of your Device piece by piece.”
Sidorov wasn’t stupid. He stayed limp in Dent’s grasp, and after a second his CAD whirled away. As it returned to the second year’s wrists the helm she had a hold of slipped out of being, but Dent simply snapped her grip to his collar in the moment he briefly hung in midair. Before his feet could touch the ground she’d wrench him off the tree again, hurling him back towards the place he’d just been standing, letting him tumble and slide across the frozen ground. He was on his feet again in an instant, but didn’t move from the spot as the Bishop turned towards them all.
If Shido hadn’t still been called, Rei was pretty sure every hair on his body would have stood on end.
Dent’s eyes were two points of piercing white light, so bright they almost hurt to look at under the brim of her cap. Kestrel had been partially called around both her arms, as had 2 of her famous 8 externals, which explained how she’d moved so fast.
She’d arrived ready for a fight.
