It really sucks we don't have a discord server for this series to have discussions. Anyways, I was relistening to B2 for the nth time as one does and a thought crossed my head. Why would the MIND have Dent agree to Viv's request for unsupervised simulation training? We seen sometime after Viv regained consciousness that the MIND was able to speak with her telepathically or as it does with Dent through her CAD band. So I'm starting to believe that the MIND was already within Viv's CAD band and listening in on her and Logan's talk after Chancery unlocked her ability back during Sectionals. It only makes sense how our little gang is seemingly getting what they "desire" after getting pushed to a certain threshold. It explains how Rei unlocked Type shift, and Temporal Step. Both are ability triggers that came about due to the MIND constantly muttering about his lack of reach in B1 and his humorous remarks toward teleporting away from uncomfortable/dangerous situations. This next portion is more of a theory as to why Aria will be dubbed Aria of Flame in the future. Originally I always believed it was due to a potential ion flame visual ability like Overclock or some buffed version. However, with what I mentioned above regarding the MIND being inside our gang's CADs I believe Aria will be seeing something far different than a simple fire aura type ability. She's always felt jealousy or some form of wanting the speed duelists and brawlers show, when they're fighting. I recall Viv(?) noting that speed isn't really the best for a phalanx, especially a spear wielding one like Aria due to their range getting compromised. I personally don't see that being such an issue for Aria though. She's shown to be quite flexible as a phalanx and ready to throw her shield/spear at her opponent at a moments notice. Anyway to not drag it on any further than I have, Aria will definitely become one of if not the first/best, Speed and Defense focused phalanx users the ISC has ever had. With her long red hair it only makes sense how her appearance in action would resemble a flame in her passing on the feed screens or around Users on the ring. Well that's it from me. I'll probably share this when 39 comes out to get more eyes and potential replies to it.

No, it says that the colors of the cads were “blazing through the dark, bright enough against the evening to leave streaks with even the smallest of movements”, which wouldn’t have happened if they suddenly appeared. And the cracking sounds would indicate rapid acceleration, as if they all just saw the fight going on then quickly moved into position.

I’ve tried to find other series to keep me busy, those authors produce 10-30 chapters on average per month. Their content is great but I can’t find anything to match the quality of Bryce’s writing. So like an addict I check his Patreon every single day, multiple times per day. Bryce can you find ways to clone yourself, your story is the best it’s just a painful for wait because it’s soo addictive. I managed to accumulate 4 chapters and it was beyond epic but now I want more.

While I totally understand Rei’s skeptical view on Sarah showing up at his school, the sap in me really wants them to warm up to each other quickly. She obviously cares for the brother she’s never met until now. I just hope Rei’s initial wariness fades quickly when he realizes his sister came there for him (assuming it’s for the right reasons).

I loved how sarah was fighting sidorov with only her axe out. She may not have had time to full call and on my current reread I think Sarah hasn't had a head manifestation yet. She sounded a little peeved when noting their CAD manifestation. If this is true then her cad has a bit of an atypical evolution track herself. Finally Sarah is gonna be pissed with sidorov after skewering reis shoulder. No one picks on her baby brother and gets away with it.

Question about Sarah’s CAD: I was just finishing up another re-read of book 2 and noticed that Sarah’s CAD bands were orange yet her device described in the last few chapters as being a black/white color similar to Rei’s. Have we just not seen the orange vysetrium glow yet or did the color change between books?

I didn’t read the Patreon versions of the first two books, but I would imagine given Bryce‘s talent, he chapters will be flushed out, lengthen, or whatever needs to happen to fill out the book. That’s just my guess. Not sure though. But it could happen. Lol.

Great chapter first of all!!! Thank you Bryce ! As far as Sidorov, I think he has mentally shown cause for more punishment to be considered. Variables are needed yes, but a user who refuses to be in control of himself or controlled by superiors, is as much a danger to humanity as the Archons. The mind may decide to show Rei the consequences of being a rogue user. Just a thought

Daaaaayum. Awesome chapter. Loved it in so many ways. That is some great pay-off. Being military and with the timeline they are on I can see him being brigged and little else. The MIND needs its variables after all. He's a nut job who would get turfed from a peacetime military though. Plus, it adds dramatic tension for Rei and Sarah, even if I would like to see him launched into orbit by Dent as a lesson to others.

I'm really hoping that we get to see some realization of Sidorov's Ego by the staff at Galens. The guy literally thinks he is too valuable (Skilled, powerful, good overall) to the ISCM to be gotten rid of in any way. Evidenced by his conversation with Rei in book 2 "Especially users like us." I hope to heaven that Galens staff see that and start taking steps to collect evidence on him for future punitive action.

I hope the whole story of exactly what happened comes out to Dent, not some supposed pretense because there are no cameras to prove matters. I am tired of that overused loophole. I am disgusted that the older or stronger students can freely mess over everyone they deem inferior off the field. Sidorov is brutish, forcefully manipulative and he is unreasonably scared of being seen as weak. No military or government organization needs that kind of unhinged instability in their ranks. Sidorov needs a straight jacket rather than a CAD. That his own team is scared of him, that can’t be healthy on a battlefield.

So betting pool on how Sidorov stays relevant and in the story? Bryce has said he needs him to stick around, so we need some sort of contrivance that keeps him able to interact with Rei -- so no taking his CAD away, etc. My money is on "family / influence" saving his ass through some intervention by some bought-and-paid-for General. (Abel? maybe, maybe not). Enough that he will absolutely get slapped, but not into next week.

Honestly brigging is kinda weak here. This is expulsion material. Using a cad to attack and bully like that would clearly be illegal. And while they don’t have video evidence (unless catcher got his shiz together and finally started recording) they definitely have enough witnesses to draw conclusions. Yup! Pretty much how I expected that to go if I’m honest, and I’m not disappointed at all!! Firesong comes to the aid of one of their own, fangs fully bared (or as fully as Viv’s condition will allow), then the Lasher shows up, and finally Dent! Sidorov should consider himself blessed that it was Lennon who stopped that else he would be in orbit! Kestrel may be a Duelist base but Dent is *strong*! And she has Overclock in her pocket. A full device disciplinary engagement from her would be… apocalyptic springs to mind :oD I’m very much looking forward to the next chapter, see how things go. Both with Sarah and Firesong, and how Dent handles Sidorov and the other two second years. While I agree with several others that he should be stripped of his device, I can see why he’s not gotten on the staff’s radar as a bad guy before now. He’s been careful up to this point for sure. Shame really, a month in the brig will just make him angrier :oD
