Added 2024-03-27 15:02:56 +0000 UTCTHE MASSIVE 37 SECOND LONG ONE SHOT IS FINALLY DONE!!!.... well at least Quinn is... but he was certainly the main problem. As he is in most situations. Lmao jokes aside wow it's nuts to finally have this absolutely massive shot basically complete rough animation wise. While unfortunately for us it's not even our most complex shot, it was by far the longest and most intense effort wise. Now... time for cleanup on this badboy and finalizing the animation on Rue, Kira, and Warren. You'll likely see myself tackling the cleanup for this over on our youtube streams because I wanna make sure pretty boy here looks perfect. I cannot shout Sara out enough for all the hard work she's put into not just this shot, but our show in general. She is an absolute powerhouse of an animator and we are so lucky to have her on the team. Please drop her a follow if you haven't already!

2024-04-02 17:48:01 +0000 UTCAs far as the rough anim goes, for Big Hair like this I always start with a full pose-to-pose bald pass first, then I add the rough hair anim straight ahead once the body is done! When you animate straight ahead you get to just move what’s already on screen frame by frame following your general instincts when it comes to nice motion and good overlap, basically just trusting your eye to know what looks “correct” in terms of motion. So it’s less about “tracking” from key pose to key pose and more just “I have this big hair shape that I’m moving and maintaining onscreen, as the body moves left, this shape will also move left, but it’ll drag behind before catching up, etc etc”. Hope that makes sense!
