About the Manga

• Plot

  • Fuuko has an ability called “Unluck” where terrible unlucky things happen to anyone who touches her bare skin. Because of this she’s all alone with her family having died and her becoming a shut-in, and so has decided to kill herself. She is however saved by a guy called “Undead” who cannot die. He wants to use her powers to give himself the opportunity to finally die. They are immediately attacked by the Union, a group wanting to kill everyone who has their kinds of powers. Undead temporarily removes a card that he had lodged in his head which heals his brain and gives him the skills and memories of his old super-powered self to take out a group of guys. He then cuts off his own head and uses it to kiss Fuuko which causes a meteor to crash into the building they’re in, killing all the bad guys. Undead however regenerates, and Fuuko names him “Andy” which is a pun that works better in Japanese. Andy determines that if a kiss made a meteor fall down on them, then his new goal is to make Fuuko fall in love with him so they can have sex and an even bigger tragedy can hit him, hopefully killing him. They then come under attack by Shen and Void from the Union, who reveal that people with their powers are called “negators” and they’ve got ten spots open on their team and their job is to hunt down and kill every other negator not with them. Andy kills Void and determines that if they kill another one of their members then they can both join and be free of pursuit. Shen thinks that’s cool and tells them where another member is so that they can go kill her. Fuuko and Andy end up in Russia where they run into Gina, the Unchange, whose powers are very complicated but who successfully captured Andy 50 years ago. You see, Andy, was held captive for about 10 years being experimented on and tortured and in that time Gina fell in love with him. She claims to use her Unchange power to keep herself young but Andy says that she can’t target herself and instead just uses it to make her makeup stay on. Andy and Fuuko kill her and are able to join the Union. 

  • The Union has apparently been following quests given to them by the book of revelations with the ultimate goal of killing god. Okay now we have to explain this concept known as UMAs which are beings that cause phenomena to exist and then go back in time and change history so that they have only existed. For instance the UMA they’re tasked with going after is called Spoil and it introduced the concept of decay into the world. The negators, as their name implies, negate a different UMA. They go to fight and capture Spoil, a giant from Attack on Titan who has turned an entire town into zombies. Shen uses Son Goku’s power pole to send Spoil and Andy into space where Andy removes the card in his skull and turns into Victor who is super powerful and easily defeats Spoil. He returns to Earth and the rest of the Union shows up to try and contain Victor but he keeps kicking their asses. Fuuko tries shoving her boobs on his face but that isn’t activating her Unluck because she hates Victor even though she’s clearly falling in love with Andy. She takes out a gun, shoots him in the head, and sticks her thumb into his brain. Andy comes back a little bit which activates her power and summons a huge meteor shower that finally stops Victor. Fuuko shoves the card into his skull and she passes out. She wakes up and it’s past a deadline set by the book of revelations and they hadn’t completed all of their quests. Because of this they’re hit by a penalty which is the release of the Galaxy UMA. This entire time it turns out that the galaxy didn’t exist. But now the planets have come into existence along with the stars and various myths and even the days of the week. This causes aliens to come into existence and start invading Earth. However the leader of the Union, Juiz asks their leader if this is his justice. He says yes so she negates it which kills almost his entire army. The leader runs away to tell all the aliens to leave Earth alone. 

  • In addition to that stuff, the prizes for the quests they did complete include the unification of all languages into English and an 11th seat in the Union. Now the only people who speak different languages are negators who are unaffected by the existence of new UMAs. Fuuko and Andy are then tasked with going to a black market auction in Brazil where negators are being sold with the hopes of finding the Unrepair, who Andy believes will help him finally be able to die. The auction is actually attacked by the Unrepair and his posse who are searching for more negators to join their group which wants revenge against the world. They come across a negator who has the power to freeze anyone he looks at as long as he doesn’t move as well but he can’t stand still because he’s so scared. The Unrepair determines that he’s useless and so decides to kill him so that his power will transfer to someone else who probably won’t be as much of a pussy. Andy fights against him even though wounds made by the Unrepair do not heal unless he dies. Andy gets around this because he doesn’t use his regeneration to heal but to attack. Or he cuts off the parts that were cut by Unrepair and regenerates from there. It’s unclear. Fuuko is stabbed by the Unrepair, and even though it “missed her vitals” or something, she’s still going to die in an hour because the Unrepair’s wounds do not heal. Andy charges after the Unrepair to kill him and save Fuuko. The remaining bad guys are stopped by a member of the Union named Tatiana who stays inside a big black armored sphere so her power doesn’t destroy everyone. Since she made friends with Fuuko though, she's gonna let loose.

Why It Didn’t Do Well

• Andy's rape jokes are ugh

• Initial plot feels a little aimless 

• The action can be a little hard to follow like with the unluck fighter jet thing

• The art is kinda weak at times

• The book missions are a double edged sword like it adds structure but it feels kind of forced as does having them join a society

• I'd like to see more out of the characters and feels lot like chapter 1 and

• Did they completely retcon the removing card thing? This series retcons a lot

• I’m sometimes very confused by what happens.

What It Did Well

• This series really does its own thing and I respect that

• The art is nice and has dynamic energy to the drawings 

• I like the puzzle for the reader that you can try and figure out the un-ability though some aren't real words

• I like how Andy feels like he's been through it all

• The world feels well organized and feels kind of off

• The split speech bubble in the fight vs the 10 was sick I'm surprised we didn't see more of it 

• That galaxy thing was really cool. They totally seeded that too.

Misc Thoughts

• Do any of the un abilities make grammatical sense?

• Funny andy's bio mentions a specific brand of beer

• I feel it's rare seeing MCs drink alcohol

• Kinda reminds me of that pair in Naruto with the immortal guy and super destructive guy

• Did he go from Victor to Victhor because now Thor exists?
