Update (Video on this Soon)

Hey all! Thank you again so much for your contributions to my endeavors in making cool stuff happen. I know I say it every video, but you all seriously are absolute heroes. Just wanted to give you all an update since I slowed down video production this last month.

D&D 5e Dancer Class

The Dancer is coming along at a breakneck pace right now! The base class got the kind of response in consultation I needed to confirm it was good to move on to subclass design. It's so far along that the base class and about 3 or 4 of the subclasses are ready for 1st-5th level playtest! Come join up over on the Discord server for more info about being involved there.

Why have YouTube videos slowed down?

I've talked about it on the channel in the past, but I figured it was worth saying here; YouTube and D&D homebrew product sales aren't my full time job. I'm actually a music educator and professional guitarist. The kick-off of COVID-19 in March of last year allowed me to focus a bit more on YouTube and D&D design to make a tiny of cash on the side, but the pandemic is winding down as vaccines are finally getting to people.

Since about November of last year, I have been trying to figure out my post-pandemic career path. A lot of you heard about this late last year when I interviewed for a Product Management position at Wizards of the Coast. Despite not getting the job, I learned a lot from that time. One really big thing was that a multi-million dollar company like Wizards believed I possessed the skills necessary for this position, but they wanted someone with 10+ years experience in product management and they got that in someone else.

Fast-forward to this month. Two really promising job possibilities fell into my lap, and required me to pull time away from some part of my life to do interview prep and draft proposals for those positions. Now that I've had the interview for one and know the city of Tulsa's position on another, I can talk about them!

The Jobs

I was pretty randomly asked if I would be interested in a Product Management position with Fender Guitars in Scottsdale, Arizona! I've played Fender Telecasters and Gretsch hollowbodies basically my entire life, and this sort of fell into my lap while I was drafting a proposal to revitalize a 501(c)(3) here in Tulsa, the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame. I was informed earlier today that the city commissioner loved the proposal they are just waiting for some legal actions to take place before moving forward with anything new.

I want to put your minds at ease: neither of these positions would require me to quit making content! I'm still planning to continue YouTube and writing for this silly dice game of ours. They actually allow me to better fund my own work and upgrade the whole production line! Of which... there are so, so many plans already in the works, but more on that later.

The Future

Overall, it won't feel like a whole lot has changed. The position at Fender won't require me to move until Q2 of 2022, so I won't even get a new studio until then. If I get the director position with the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame, then all that will change is the budget I can spend on making content! Either way, I am incredibly optimistic for the first time in a very, very long time and I just wanted to share this with you all and give you some heads-up on where my life is at.

Love you guys, thank you so much for all of your support.

See you all in the next one.

This is awesome, Taron! Keep us posted and I hope everything goes your way!

Very happy for you Taron and hope the city can push through the hurdles so that job can come to fruition. Getting a job involving something you're passionate is a dream not many reach.
