Speedrun Explained 63 (Update 4); Speedrun Explained 64 (Update 2)
Added 2025-02-14 16:16:38 +0000 UTCHey all! I hope you've been doing well and the first month and a half of the new year have been treating you all well. I've been hard at work on a couple things, one of which you'll be seeing VERY soon, so let's get into it!
SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED 63 // Dark Souls (All Bosses)
This one has been in the works for a long, long time! After first talking with the runner I'm working with at AGDQ 2024, we planned all last year to make this video. It's proven to be a very sizable project, almost the same length as the Simpson's Hit & Run video. But man, it's absolutely come together quickly despite lots of interruptions between the holidays and AGDQ 2025. To be honest I'm impressed with myself for getting a video of this length (just under 80 minutes) in such a short time. As of right now, the video is fully constructed, the runner has done two proofwatches, and I myself have done a proofwatch. I have a list of 30 changes to make today (all minor editing things, stuff like re-spacing text, adjusting volumes, fixing transitions), and I also have to finalize the audio level on the commentary, but it's really really close to being fully done. In fact, it should be up here on Patreon within the next few days. I still have to do things like make the thumbnail and set up subtitles, but we're really in the endgame with this one. I'm so excited for you all to see it; it felt a lot like an older video with how it strikes it's balance of explanations with crude humor peppered through. I hope you all enjoy!
SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED 64 // RollerCoaster Tycoon 2 (Base Game FF%)
This one I am SO excited for. Not only is it a game I played in childhood, but also a game I've revisited over the years and thoroughly enjoy. It's a classic, full stop. I just had my call with the runner I'm working with this week. The call itself was excellent: lots of interesting stuff in the run, some cool discussion on what makes this game neat as a speedrun, and of course lots of laughs. I'll be beginning the script some time next week, and considering the length of the run, I hope to have the script done by the end of the month. I'm not entirely sure how feasible that is, but it's certainly the goal I'm going to push for. Again, considering the length of the run, I think that it's possible this video will be up here on Patreon by the end of March. If it isn't posted by then, then it should be up in early April.
That's all for this update, can't wait to show this all off to you soon! Please stay safe (and warm if you're in the Northern Hemisphere), and have a good one!

Both of these are gonna be absolute bangers.

2025-02-14 22:16:03 +0000 UTCI am unreasonably excited for Dark Souls, one of my favorite games, but I am... Irresponsibly excited for RCT.
