Speedrun Explained 61 (Update 3); Speedrun Explained 63 Announcement!
Added 2024-09-20 19:00:07 +0000 UTCHey all, I've had an insanely busy first half of September, but I regret and am sorry for taking so long to type up an update to post here! I'll get right into it though.
SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED #61
This run is the most recent Patron's Choice poll winner, The Simpson's: Hit & Run. The poll for this one was so long ago and the last few videos have had longer production times, so I'm relieved to finally have gotten to this one and have it be the main focus. If you remember from the first update I gave on this video, the category for it actually got pivoted from Any% to All Story Missions. I've finally started writing the script for this video and it's just starting to get off the ground. If you're familiar with the game, it has 7 (lengthy) levels. I just wrapped up on writing Level 1. It usually takes awhile for me to get a script going and get into a good flow with it. It takes me a bit of workshopping and thinking early on to figure out what the flow for the video is going to be like and set up the building blocks for the rest of the video. I think I've really started to figure that out with this script though! I'm hoping to have a full draft done within the next two weeks or so, with the final six levels flying by compared to the first. I just love this game and can't wait to work on this video more. As of right now, the script is a lot more information focused. There's a lot of time in this run and a lot of space to add humor though, so I anticipate it to be a lot more balanced between information and humor near the end. I've been looking forward to this run that you all chose for a long time, and I'm so glad that it's finally at the top of the hopper. As I progress a bit further through it, I'll begin planning and eventually post the next Patron's Choice poll, so be on the lookout for that in a couple weeks!
SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED #63
I think that it's finally time to announce what video is coming after SHAR. This video is the first time I'm revisiting a (non-Fallout) game that I've covered in the past! I'm excited to say that the next video in line is an All Bosses speedrun of Dark Souls. This is a run that I've wanted to cover for a while, and I'm re-teaming with a previously featured runner to make it happen (I actually made plans with them to make this video back at AGDQ 2024 this past January). This run and route is so so so cool, and I cannot wait to be able to talk at you all about it. It likely is going to be coming out closer to the end of the year though, so still have to wait a bit for it. Very excited though.
Thank you all for your continued patience and support! The video release schedule has definitely been a bit more sparse this year as a result of me covering more dense and a few longer speedruns. A handful of these are videos that I've wanted to make for a long time and I'm so glad to finally be checking them off. There's really only one other speedrun on my list that I really want to cover that's well over an hour, and I don't have an infinite amount of time to get to it, so I'd like to do that sooner rather than later. I'm hoping that once I'm get through these longer runs I'll be able to focus on covering a handful of more "normal" length runs (by my channel's standards). Anyway, again thank you all for your support! I hope you've been doing well.
